Henry Cejudo and Tony Ferguson are two legendary fighters who are now on their respective losing streaks. Many MMA fans and pundits speculate that either of the two or both of them may retire, given the fact that title fight aspirations might be a far-fetched endeavor for them. And in a recent turn of events, Dana White, CEO of the UFC, weighed in on the possibility of the two retiring.
In the past, White had a very liberal approach to fighters retiring and gave them the freedom to make any call they deemed fit for their career. So, does he maintain the same stance about the possibility of Cejudo and Ferguson retiring? Let’s find out.

Henry Cejudo first retired in the year 2020, however, he came back to the sport in 2023 after a 3-year break. But his return was not quite successful as he fought two times since and has been defeated on both occasions. Moreover, post the defeat, he was not particularly too open to the idea of calling it a day from the sport.
On his YouTube channel, he said, “I cannot go out like that. So I’m here today ladies and gentlemen, taking my word back as a man, confronting you guys, you the people, you my fans, you my family, you my friends, you the haters, that I just cannot go out like this. Guys, to say the least, it is far from over with the ‘Triple C.”
Moreover, despite his comments, White was asked about a potential Cejudo retirement. In the post-fight interview after UFC Mexico, he said, “That is up to him. That is solely up to him.”
It appears that White will maintain his stance and give Cejudo the choice regarding his retirement. This leads to the question, would he want Ferguson to continue fighting after being on a seven-fight losing streak? Let’s find out.

Just like Cejudo, Ferguson also does not want to retire. Many fans call for his retirement given his recent performances and suspect the lightweight fighter might have aged. But according to him, he is here to stay and will fight till his last breath. “They already f*cking know it, and you know what? I’m not retiring. Anytime I get hurt, I come back with a f*cking vengeance,” said, Ferguson.
In the same post-fight press conference, White was asked about his opinion on Ferguson’s aforementioned comments. With a smirk on his face, the CEO of the UFC said, “I don’t know. I hadn’t heard it until Leonard told me tonight what he said. We will see how that plays out.”
