UFC 291 did not turn out to be anything like what Stephen Thompson had planned. The UFC welterweight was going to face Michel Pereira in an exciting matchup in the PPV. However, the fight was canceled after Pereira missed weight and Thompson chose to not fight him. Soon after this chaos, news surfaced that ‘Wonderboy’ was not paid to show up at UFC 291. • “I think it might be because nobody gives a shit about Tim Kennedy. Especially compared to GSP, Cain and Cowboy.”
  • “He just shouldn’t be paid for weight cutting and Tim is complaining about something he controls in weight cutting.”

But the UFC was at the receiving end of a lot of criticism.

  • “we’ll take care of him”
  • “Fighters are incentivized to cut weight. If the UFC gave a shit they’d institute rules that would make cutting weight non-beneficial to the fighters which is pretty simple really.”
  • “Dana sh*ts on boxing and compares himself to the big 3 sports leagues when he’s trying to hang dong to the media. All those organizations pay athletes to train/practice what is stopping the UFC from doing the same?”
