At UFC 291, the stage is set for the clash of UFC’s scariest knockout artists, Alex Pereira and Jan Blachowicz. While Pereira is coming off a loss to Israel Adesanya, Blachowicz’s last fight was a controversial draw with Magomedov Ankalaev. So this weekend, when the heavy-handed warriors enter the octagon, the last man standing gains his position on the winning track.
Up until now, the fight was being touted as a title eliminator for the UFC Light Heavyweight belt. But with the champion, Jamahal Hill, vacating his title following a gruesome injury, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. However, Jan Blachowicz believes he is still just a fight away from fighting for the title next.

Jan Blachowicz made some revelations regarding the future of the UFC’s Light-Heavyweight title in a press conference. According to the ‘Polish Hammer,’ his next fight will be for the vacant UFC 205 title, likely against Jiří Procházka. While there are no official words on the matter, the former KSW champion claims to have UFC’s nod for this.
This statement came in response to one of the interviewers asking the fighter his opinion on fighting for the title next. In response to this, ‘John’ said, “Of course, UFC told me that after this fight, the next fight for the title, so nothing changed. He (Jamahal Hill) left the belt. I wish you a very fast recovery but my next opponent will be, I don’t know, maybe Prohaska, and we’re gonna fight for the title, so we will see.”
For those unaware, Blachowicz won the 205 strap after knocking out Dominick Reyes. However, after just one defense, he dropped the title to Glover Teixeira. Since then, the title has exchanged hands with two champions, going from Teixeira to Procházka and then eventually to Hill. However, with ‘Sweet Dream’ now injured and Procházka back in action, it seems like Blachowicz’s wish might be granted, especially if he manages to get past Alex Pereira.

Alex Pereira is doubtful of the Polish power of Jan Blachowicz.
In his recent appearance at Trocação Franca, Alex Pereira seems to be dismissive of Jan Blachowicz’s knockout power. According to ‘Poatan,’ Blachowicz hasn’t finished everybody he has fought. However, he acknowledged the Polish fighter’s veteran experience later.
This is surprising considering Blachowicz’s career highlight is full of knockouts. Examples include the likes of Luke Rockhold, Corey Anderson, and Dominick Reyes. Interestingly, he also dominated Israel Adesanya in his only title defense, the same man who beat the Brazilian in his last fight. Nevertheless, the matchup is really exciting, considering both fighters possess the ability to finish the showdown with a single haymaker.
