UFC CEO Dana White has dropped a massive hint concerning Conor McGregor and his long-awaited return to the Octagon. McGregor has been out of competition since 2021 and his UFC return has faced setbacks due to his issues with USADA and athlete testing. The Irishman has been set on facing Michael Chandler to mark his return to the UFC, but, according to White, the UFC has been unable to finalize the dates for their clash. Dana White was asked about his thoughts on potential super fights happening in the UFC next year on the podcast. While White hinted at an upcoming super fight, he clarified that it doesn’t involve Conor McGregor. When asked about McGregor’s plans for next year, White affirmed, “Yes, 100%, fights next year”

Regarding the opponent, White mentioned Michael Chandler but emphasized the importance of timing. He stated, “You don’t see these guys hurrying up the fight. Jon Jones takes off for f*king years, Chandler can hang out and wait for f*king Conor, you know what I mean.”

White further elaborated by stating that fighters like Chandler sit in a position where they can afford not to take fights for extended periods of time. He pointed out Jon Jones as an example of a fighter who took a long period of time away from the Octagon.

White also affirmed that “Chandler can just sit around and take his time and you know, wait for Conor, however long it takes.”

In conclusion, McGregor and his return to the UFC has no concrete date as revealed by Dana White. His opponent, Michael Chandler, has been stated to be content with waiting for the Irish superstar’s return. The interview highlights the changing dynamics for UFC fighters who are now emphasizing strategic approaches towards matchmaking in their careers.

However, the confirmation of 2024 for McGregor’s return will cause fans to look forward to his comeback. And McGregor himself has recently shared an update that indicates he is putting in the work in the gym to get back to his winning ways!
