Almost all fans agree that UFC 300 was a stupendous card. The UFC always goes all out for its anniversary cards, putting on the biggest fights possible to mark the occasion, as it did at UFC 100 and 200. There was grumbling about some of the fights on the card before the event, including the main event between Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill, which many deemed unworthy of headlining the card.

And even though the card turned out to be a roaring success, Dana White, petty as always, seems to have taken this criticism to heart. And in typical Dana White fashion, the UFC CEO went after the critics of the card. He appeared in a video on his social media accounts, where he told the audience he would show what some members of the media had to say about the card.

What followed was a series of short clips of various MMA analysts, including Brendan Schaub, Lucas Tracy, and Brian Campbell criticizing the card before it happened. It should be noted that many of these comments were about the main event of UFC 300, which as we have seen, was almost universally criticized by fans. In addition, some of the bouts such as even Max Holloway vs. Justin Gaethje, which turned out to be the Fight of the Night (and possibly of the Year) expected to be a one-sided affair in favour of Gaethje given Holloway was moving up to lightweight and had a horrible sojourn at 155 last time around.

The fact that the bout turned out the way it did (which was universally praised by all these analysts after the evet), does not mean it nullifies or necessarily even proves wrong the criticisms made before it happened. Despite all this, the UFC boss wanted to rub the success of UFC 300 in these analysts’ faces and got a lot of reactions from amused fans.

Fans and fighters react to Dana White’s petty video blasting MMA analysts

Fans and even some fighters took to the comments and replies of the posts and let their thoughts on the subject known. Here is a sample of some of their comments:

Kamaru Usman felt the video was a clear win for White:

“Damn that’s definitely a 10-7 rd for @danawhite vs media 😂😂😂”

UFC commentator Jon Anik simply reacted with:

“LOL”

One fan found it funny that the UFC didn’t even give Brendan Schaub the proper credit as a former UFC fighter:

“I loved that they put “podcaster” under brendan schaub and not “former mma or ufc fighter” 😂”

Another was tickled at how Dana White clapped back at the critics with all the receipts:

“Dana got receipts of all the haters”

Another felt it was a clear win for the UFC boss:

“COOKED lol”

One fan found White’s characteristic pettiness hilarious:

“Dana is a petty and it’s awesome 😂”

Another was crying laughing at the shade thrown at Brendan Schaub staright away:

“Not Schaub being the first one 😭💀”

Another fan felt not even the podcasters were safe now:

“Oh no they’re coming after podcasters 😅😅”

Another scored it decisively in the bombastic UFC CEO’s favour:

“10-8 Dana”

However, not all were on-board with White’s response. One fan felt that almost everyone in the video trashing UFC 300 were not real experts or part of the MMA media community, but rather were YouTubers and Redditors with an interest in MMA:

“Half these “MMA experts” are Reddit commenters and YouTubers. Just about every media member in the video repeatedly complimented the card’s depth and celebrated its success afterward. Feels like they took clips of disappointment with the main event reveal for a “gotchya” piece”

Another pointed out the quality of the main event was universally criticised and the only reason the UFC scrambled to book Pereira-Hill was because they couldn’t make their first three or four choices happen:

“Let’s not act like the marketing and promotion of UFC 300 WASN’T thrown together. Alex and Hill was literally made moments before the announcement, amazing card but it definitely was a mess and we’re lucky it was as good as it was”

Most of the fans found the clip hilarious, however, this sentiment was not unanimous. Other fans pointed out that the card only became such a success due to the fighters’ putting it all on the line at the card, and felt that the UFC’s efforts had been lacking. What are your thoughts on the video?
