Risking $20 million—Is Merab Dvalishvili's choice brave or just plain stupid?

UFC CEO Dana White’s passion for his promotion is evident from his recent actions to support the UFC’s interests. However, if someone attempts to undermine his promotion, they will face his wrath. This was clear last week when UFC ranked #1 bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili, who is less than three weeks away from facing division king Sean O’Malley at UFC 306, which is considered to be the UFC’s most expensive event to date, with costs exceeding $27 million, posted a picture of himself with a cut above his eye. This led to speculation among fans that Dvalishvili might pull out of the fight.

Dana White was angered by Dvalishvili’s action, which he labeled “The whole world knows about Merab’s cut. He posted it. Our guys are so dumb, it’s next-level unbelievable. All the stuff I talk about boxing, what I will give boxing, is when something happens in a camp, man, let me tell you what move.” White was frustrated because Dvalishvili’s actions jeopardized the highly anticipated UFC ticket sales and the event itself.

Many fans thought Dana White’s scolding would work on Merab Dvalishvili and that he wouldn’t repeat such reckless behavior again, but they were wrong. In a recent post by the MMA-oriented page Home of Fight on Instagram, a video was shared showing Merab Dvalishvili cutting his stitches out himself during an Instagram Live session. This left fans shocked, as they didn’t expect the level of craziness. In the comments, fans speculated about what Dana White’s reaction would be after seeing this video.

Fans slam Merab Dvalishvili for posting the injury video

In the comments, fans were either mocking or claiming Merab Dvalishvili for this stupid move. One fan accused Dvalishvili of not caring about White’s $20 million dream event, commenting, “Bro just doesn’t give a fuck at this point.” Another fan gave Sean O’Malley advice on where to target when he will face Dvalishvili in the octagon, commenting, “Above his left eye. punching target for Sean.” The rivalry between the two fighters is reaching its peak, with O’Malley’s coach, Tim Welch, also jumping into the fray, making comments about Dvalishvili’s height, looks, and other things.

Another fan claimed that Dana White could cut Merab Dvalishvili from the promotion, commenting, “Dana gonna cut him literally.” Recently, Muhammad Mokaev faced the wrath of Dana White due to his unethical behavior, which led White to refuse to extend Mokaev’s contract with the promotion, deciding instead to end it after UFC 304. Meanwhile, another fan weighed in on Dana White’s earlier lesson to Dvalishvili, commenting, “Bro has learned anything.. The dude is still uploading videos about his injuries.”

On the other hand, another fan had a different take, suggesting Alex Pereira step in, just as he did when McGregor pulled out from the UFC 03 fight card. The fan commented, “Calling it right now, this fight is getting canceled. Poatan will be the honorary Mexican to replace the main event.”
