Welterweight title contender Belal Muhammad had been clamoring for a title shot after racking up a 4-fight winning streak. However, after defeating Gilbert Burns at UFC 287, UFC President Dana White doubled down on the fact that ‘Remember the Name’ is next in line for a championship fight. Muhammad discussed it in a recent interview.
Belal Muhammad is currently riding on a 5-fight winning streak. He made some rapid improvements after joining Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s team last year. Muhammad proved his willingness to grab a title shot after accepting to fight Gilbert Burns on short notice. Furthermore, he won the fight via a unanimous decision and became the number one contender for the UFC welterweight championship.
Belal Muhammad claims Dana White can’t change his mind after giving him a title shot

‘Remember the Name’ recently made an appearance on the ‘Parkins & Spiegel Show’. He touched upon the topic of being promised a title fight after winning at UFC 287. Dana White, in an interview earlier, assured the fans that the winner of Burns vs Muhammad was the ideal candidate for the title shot.
Belal Muhammad mentioned that he received text messages from Dana White regarding his upcoming title fight. He stressed the fact that the UFC president can’t change his mind now. Muhammad said, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. We’re promised a title fight. I got texts from Dana. So, Dana can’t go back on his word.”
‘Remember the Name’ shares his thoughts on Colby Covington and Leon Edwards
When Belal Muhammad was asked about his thoughts on ‘Chaos’ and ‘Rocky’, he claimed that he disliked both fighters. He said, “I actually dislike both of them.” He added that he had a better relationship with the last couple of fighters he had fought against, including Gilbert Burns. Muhammad continued, “The last couple of guys I fought, I was actually friends with. Gilbert Burns, I was actually cool with him. We’ve trained together before and he’s a very nice guy.”

Muhammad stated that he wants his next fight to have a proper build-up. And for that reason, he wants to fight somebody whom he dislikes, which aligns with his feeling toward Colby Covington and Leon Edwards. Muhammad said, “The next guy will be somebody I actually dislike. So, it will be a fun build-up and it’ll be a fun fight for me to hit somebody that I hate.”
Belal Muhammad has been fighting in the UFC for almost seven years now. He finally got the opportunity that he’d been working so hard for. We will have to wait and see if the promised title fight turns out to be a successful outing for ‘Remember the Name.’
