What was supposed to be a banger night at UFC 303 seems to be turning into a disaster all over again. The rekindled UFC 303 card was saved by Alex Pereria vs. Jiri Prochazka and Diego Lopes vs. Brian Ortega after the Conor McGregor fallout. However, now it seems like the MMA Gods never really wanted to save the UFC 303 after all. The clash between ‘T-City’ and Lopes seems to be in the doldrums.

UFC 303 witnessed a major reshuffle of the main as well as co-main event due to the sudden fallout of Conor McGregor’s fight with Michael Chandler as well as Jamahal Hill‘s fight with Carlos Ulberg. In order to save the card, Dana White clinched in more fighters, but it appears that it is not working as well. Why, you ask? Well, that’s because Brian Ortega seems to be out due to extreme fever. UFC broadcast announced that the fighter is having issues with his health and will be out of his fight against Diego Lopes.

The last-minute health update is now a looming threat over the entire card as their fight was one of the most looked-forward clashes after the disaster. Well, what now? Will Dana White cancel the fight all over again? The answer to this question might be Dan Ige. The Haleiwa, Hawaii native seems to have stepped up to face Lopes at the very last minute.

The commission has given a green signal to Ige for his last-minute clash against Lopes. Hunter Campbell has personally thanked Ige for his decision. As of now, both the fighters are weighing at 165 lbs. Diego Lopes had cut down to the 140s, then had to fight at 155, now he weighs 161 lbs. This news has rattled the MMA community as they are up in arms about the cancellation. Some of the reactions of the fans are as follows:-

The MMA community is not amused by Brian Ortega’s sudden replacement at UFC 303

The commission has multiple rules that have to be followed in order for a fighter to fight and one of them is making weight and having a semi-proper camp. Having a four-hour notice and fighting seems a bit far-fetched even for seasoned fighters. A social media user questioned whether it was legal or not.

“How like how would this be legal in”

The main event of the night was totally canceled and replaced by Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka. The Co-main had to be changed for 4 times as both Jamahal Hill, as well as Carlos Ulberg, injured themselves ahead of the match. The sad state of the UFC 303 card induced a fan to ask a valuable question.

“what the hell did this card do to piss off the mma gods this much”

Taking a fight on four-hour notice, knowing that the probability of you losing is near 100 % is some ‘BMF’ act. A fan seems to be demanding a new ‘BMF’ belt specifically for Ige.

“DAN IGE IS NOW OBLIGATED TO HAVE HIS OWN PERSONAL BMF BELT CUZ WOW”

Furthermore, another fan is assuming that the fight is nothing but cursed.

“cursed asf but lfg”

It was actually a four-hour notice for Ige but still taking a fight against a fully camped fighter is nothing less than some pro thing.

“2 hour short notice ige “

Last but not least, a fan seems to be demanding a demotion of Ortega back to the prelims due to his carelessness.

“Ortega gotta go back to prelims now.”

Fighting on such short notice might have made Dan Ige a favorite for Dana White and co but it might prove to be disastrous for his record. Whats your take on the UFC 303 fiasco? State your thoughts in the comments below.
