The UFC lightweight champion is alleged to have cheated before the fight during the weigh-ins. A former rival and teammate of Alexander Volkanovski has voiced out allegations against the pound-for-pound number 1. In a series of tweets, Islam Makhachev was targeted by his rival.

Dan Hooker gives a statement against Islam Makhachev

Dan Hooker has raised allegations against his former rival. Islam Makhachev has had difficulties making weight at 155 pounds in the past. Much like Khabib Nurmagomedov, the Dagestani is also alleged to take the help of IV to make weight. However, these allegations haven’t been confirmed and these are just rumors.

Moreover, his former rival Dan Hooker has come out and made a statement against Makhachev. A teammate of Alexander Volkanovski, the UFC lightweight said in his tweet, “He doesn’t cheat, he doesn’t win.”

It remains to be seen what Islam Makhachev says to these allegations. The pound-for-pound number 1 however, cannot deny that he struggles to make weight at his championship level.

Furthermore, Dan Hooker also sent a tweet saying the same thing, “Dumb c*** thinks he can fly to Australia hire a nurse to give him an I.V. and we won’t find out. Cheating dog“.

However, he didn’t confirm in that tweet who he was referring to while making such a statement and allegations of IV use.

Alexander Volkanovski also pointed out Makhachev’s struggles in making weight

The UFC fighter revealed a detail about his former opponent. The Australian said in an interview that Makhachev will not have a smirk before his fight.

Volkanovski said in an interview, “So again last week when we did that interview… but that smirk’s probably already stopping now because he’s cutting weight. So he probably won’t be the chirpy smirky type…”

The USADA has clearly mentioned that intravenous infusions are prohibited in the UFC. It remains to be seen if any investigation is done against the pound-for-pound number 1.
