After begging Dana White and the UFC to take him back following his unceremonious firing from the promotion last month, Muhammad Mokaev has found a new home. Or rather, he has gone back to his old home. The undefeated flyweight has signed with Brave Combat Federation, where he had started his MMA career before joining the UFC in 2022.
After an undefeated 7-0 run in the UFC’s flyweight division, the Englishman was seen as the next title contender in the 125-pound division. Instead, he was called out for being boring and fired for his rude and, at times, unacceptable behavior after UFC 304 on his home turf. He then went on an apology tour, pleading with the UFC to take him back. Now, however, with the UFC clearly not interested, Mokaev has gone back to Brave CF, he announced on social media.
“I’m happy to announce that I signed with @bravemmaf. I would like to thank @khaled_hamad_alkhalifa @thehawkshahid for this opportunity! @khkmma,” Mokaev wrote on Instagram.

The flyweight also thanked the top brass of Brave CF in the post, and why not. After the UFC fired him, the next best thing, PFL too passed on him, although they did change their tune a few days ago.

Even though Mokaev has found a promotion to sign him this has been a stupendous downfall for him, going from being on the cusp of winning a UFC title to going back to Brave with his tail between his legs. However, it seems the undefeated flyweight had a long list of issues both in and out of the octagon that the UFC found unacceptable.

Fans, of course, will be well aware of Mokaev’s recent antics, including his brawl with Manel Kape in the hotel lobby prior to their UFC 304 clash. This was not the first time they had brawled, however, having had a violent run-in with the native Congolese earlier this year. That was the start of their feud and so incensed and angry at Mokaev that he had to be restrained from assaulting Kape inside the octagon before the first bell for their UFC clash had been rung!

Not to mention claims his fellow flyweight Steve Erceg made about the Dagestan native’s entitled and disrespectful attitude towards the UFC staff and his own team backstage. Dana White, of course, had claimed that there were ‘a lot of things’ that weren’t publicly known which led to Mokaev’s firing. And most think it was these behavioral issues that had soured the UFC on Mokaev.
But that is outside the octagon. The UFC was also reportedly quite critical of his allegedly boring, grappling-heavy fighting style, with the former national wrestling champion going for takedowns the first chance he gets. In fact, he was expressly told by the UFC before UFC 304 to be more exciting or risk being let go. Mokaev didn’t heed the advice and had another snoozefest with Kape, and was fired shortly after.
