According to reports, McGregor gave €1 million to the Dublin Crumlin Boxing Club for its renovation.

However, Crumlin Boxing Club administrator and coach Philip Sutcliffe came into the limelight to explain that the news was fake.

 The boxing club was compelled to reply after the information became widespread and other people began contacting the coach for financial assistance after learning about the enormous cash they earned. As reported by Sunday World Sutcliffe clarified the situation by outlining the truth behind the story. He said, “I don’t know where they are getting their €1 million. There are plans in place for a redevelopment, which were orchestrated from four years ago, and that’s still happening. But this thing that’s gone viral now about a €1 million donation is just something someone put online without ever making contact with the club.”

Talking on the subject further, he added, “They didn’t contact me and I’m the administrator..no one contacted anyone from the club and the person who put it out is somebody who is not even really involved in the club.”

Even if their club is sizable, the administrator said, it is challenging to successfully maintain it. People also ask for sponsorship as a result of the propagation of such false information. Sutcliffe claims that disseminating such information without their consent can be very harmful.
