If we ask who pioneered the podcasting culture around the world, it would be a disservice not to name Joe Rogan as one of its original trailblazers. With millions of followers, the multi-million-dollar podcasting legend has become a globally recognized figure. However, with a massive following comes inevitable criticism. That said, the presence of genuine supporters often balances out the negativity, and guess what? Joe Rogan loves his fans to the utmost.

Fairly recently, while having a conversation with an outdoorsman, conservationist, writer, and host of “MeatEater,” Steven Rinella, Joe Rogan was caught off-guard by the guest when he asserted that there are several fans who love Rogan so much that they can do anything for him, “It’s not just people that don’t like you; there’s people that like you. I know, and so it’s like you got to, at a certain point, worry about the people that like you.”

Rinella joked that some fans would love to kidnap Rogan and keep him in their basement, purely out of their admiration for the podcaster. Laughing it out, the podcaster asserted that he does get mail from fans asking him to visit their homes. “Yeah, I get it. I get letters. People want me to come to their house,” said Rogan.

He further added, “I get it. You know, especially if you don’t know anyone famous. The thing about podcasts, too, is that you’re so intimately connected to that person because you hear that person talk all the time. I do four of these a week, so it’s like they’re hearing me, you know, some 12 hours a week of me talking to you. Yeah, it’s a lot.”

Well, too much fame might be toxic for some celebs, who don’t know how to handle it, and Ellen DeGeneres is the perfect example of it. Despite being at the top of the talk show world, her popularity soon fell down due to massive revelations regarding her behavior toward her staff. Talking about this, Joe Rogan said, “Fell apart. Disappeared because people found.” However, this might not be the case for Joe Rogan.

With approximately 19.2 million subscribers on his YouTube handle and 14.5 million followers on Spotify, Joe Rogan stands at the top of the podcasting realm. However, that doesn’t mean that he likes attention too often.

Joe Rogan asserts the importance of privacy in today’s world

When you’re as big as Joe Rogan, it’s inevitable that your private life will become just another piece of gossip for the world. Recently, when the podcaster covered Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony alongside his wife, Jessica Ditzel, it made headlines in the media, as Rogan is rarely seen with his wife. While having a conversation with Rinella, Rogan highlighted the importance of privacy despite being famous: “But I could conceive a time where I don’t want to do it anymore,” said Rogan.

He further added, “I don’t want to be a public person anymore. The public aspect of it is the weirdest part—people constantly wanting your time and everybody thinking that if they can connect with this guy, they can make a lot of money. They think, ‘I can set up a business with him. I can do this with him. I can do that with him. He can introduce me to this. I can work with him.’ There’s a lot of that. A lot of that. That’s exhausting. A lot of these opportunists and weirdos—that’s exhausting.”

Unnecessary fame has always irked Rogan, but his hands are tied as he can’t do anything about it. However, what he can do is protect the privacy of his family. Regardless, what’s your take on Rogan’s words? State your thoughts in the comments below.
