There is no doubt that UFC fighter Conor McGregor is one of the richest athletes in the world. His star power in the MMA business seems to keep growing even when he isn’t active or is down with injuries. From great fights in the octagon to controversies outside of it, the Irish fighter certainly stays in the headlines.

Recently, ‘The Notorious’ shared a post on Instagram which showed the top 5 highest-earning athletes per minute in 2021. McGregor topped the list at a whopping $8.6 million. Canelo Alvarez followed McGregor with $444 thousand. Tom Brady, Neymar, and Cristiano Ronaldo were also present on the list.

Sharing the picture, McGregor wrote in the caption, “Wow! $8.6m a minute in 2021.”

Several well-known athletes commented on McGregor’s post. Ronaldo’s comment was also seen on the post, which consisted of laughing emojis. Ronaldo commented, “😂😂😂”.

Many Instagram users commented saying that the numbers were not true. Further, Ronaldo’s comment also makes the claim seem a little unreliable. However, he and McGregor have been good friends for a few years.

While the validity of those numbers may be up for debate, McGregor is surely giving a tough competition to some of the top athletes across various sports. According to Forbes, Conor McGregor was the highest-paid athlete in 2021.

The fighter owns several lucrative businesses, apart from being an MMA fighter. So if the ‘$8.6m a minute in 2021’ claim is true, it shouldn’t be a big surprise for the masses.

Businesses that Conor McGregor owns

Apart from MMA, he has also ventured into boxing. In 2017, McGregor had the biggest debut in boxing against Floyd Mayweather. It was a huge money fight. However, leaving his combat sports career aside, Conor McGregor owns a liquor brand ‘Proper No. Twelve’ which generates huge revenue.

He also owns a clothing line named ‘August McGregor’. Conor McGregor is also the proud owner of ‘The Black Forge Inn’ a pub in Dublin. So the 33-year-old has several businesses that have been doing extremely well.
