Ronda Rousey has been facing quite a bit of stress with rumors of her financial struggles spreading through the internet like wildfire. The rumors began when she advertised private lessons for 10 lucky people. She promised that she and Travis Browne would personally train those 10 people with whatever they desired. Dealing with pregnancy is no easy task. And the fighting community is well aware of it. This was probably the reason why people began suspecting that Rousey’s bank balance was running low, even though her net worth was a whopping $14 million. Nevertheless, the UFC Hall of Famer has not revealed the truth behind her graphic novel.

In an Instagram post shared on the 30th of July, ‘Rowdy’ pointed out how different things would have been had characters like Seth Rogan, Kathrine Heigi, Beatrice Kiddo, and John Wick were dealing with a pregnancy. Well, that is indeed the uniqueness of ‘Expecting The Unexpected’. In the captions, Rousey wrote, “My debut “Expecting the Unexpected” explores all these possibilities and the difficult choices they offer wrapped in humor, romance, martial arts and homage to the greatest action films of all time. Written as a way to cope with my own anxieties of becoming a mother for the first time “Mom” – my imaginary professional killer alter ego -must answer a question every new mother faces “Am I capable of raising a child in a hostile world?”

Just like a new author, Rousey also dreamed of her book becoming a giant in the library, someday. She continued, “Hopefully this book is the first of many and this first issue will be worth a lot someday (think of it as my comics rookie card! My @strikeforce rookie card is worth something like 10k these days, just sayin’ 😜)”

Have an interesting take?

In the IG post, the UFC legend shared pictures of herself with her firstborn child. Needless to say, the pictures depicted the anxiety that parents have to go through while raising their children. After all, it was a book that she wrote while she was trying to get pregnant, about 5 years back. But what was the real motivation behind the comic?

What motivated ‘Rowdy’ to write the graphic novel?

In the promotional video for the graphic novel, Rousey revealed there weren’t many stories that dealt with the hardships of pregnancy, including thrilling action scenes, romance, as well as comedy. With the protagonist, an impersonation of Rousey herself, depicted as a pregnant superhuman, the UFC HoFer simply wanted to make a difference with a work of literature that only she could write.

‘Rowdy’ said, “There are very few stories out there that examine the journey that a woman goes through from when she finds out she’s pregnant, to when she decides whether or not she can be a mom. It’s very much me and my husband in there, which is why our likenesses are being drawn into the book itself. And in trying to write a role for myself that no one else could play better than me, I unexpectedly wrote something that no one could have written other than me.”
