Colby Covington and Ian Garry‘s feud has been the talk of the MMA town for some time now. Their feud started when Covington attacked Garry verbally last year after his wife Layla Machado’s book went viral. ‘Chaos’ was unfiltered in his approach against Garry. However, ‘Future’ was silent for a prolonged period until now. The undefeated fighter has called out Covington for a clash but it seems like ‘Chaos’ is not in the mood to respond to his tactics.

Colby Covington denies UFC 303 fight contract claims

While having a conversation on ‘The Rush With Maxx Crosby’ Colby Covington emphasized that he has not received any statement from the UFC CEO Dana White for any fight. “Now we know that he’s a liar, because the UFC, Hunter (Campbell), Dana (White) they haven’t talked to me about this fight, this fight has not been presented, he’s just lying and trying to get clickbait,” said Colby Covington.

Colby Covington’s most recent fight turned into a disaster for him as he suffered his third title shot loss. ‘Chaos’ was defeated by Leon Edwards via unanimous decision at UFC 296. Since then, Covington has been actively seeking a fight to regain his title contention status. Amidst this pursuit, Ian Garry stepped forward to challenge him to a fight.

The 36-year-old fighter even argued why he would fight Garry considering the fact that ‘Future’ is currently ranked 7th in the division while he is ranked at number 4th. In response to this, Garry accused ‘Chaos’ of ducking the fight out of fear. Now, Covington seems to be taking a risk vs. reward approach here. He has a top 5 spot to offer Garry, whereas Garry cannot claim to bring anything of the sort to their fight.

So is Covington ducking Garry? Well, according to the American fighter, he has yet to receive any official offer to fight Garry. But, he has finally named an opponent he wants to face, and it is rather surprising since he was actively shooting down this particular name this time last year.

If ‘Chaos’ gets his way, he explained that he would like to rematch Leon Edwards or take on top-ranked contender Belal Muhammad next.

Covington might not fight Ian Garry at UFC 303

Ian Garry would like to face Colby Covington at UFC 303. This would be a big one for Garry since he would get to share the spotlight with his idol and compatriot Conor McGregor. He has already made social media posts hinting at an Ireland vs. USA scenario at UFC 303. But ‘Chaos’ wants someone who offers more than Garry due to his rankings.

The former welterweight contender stated that he would like to face Leon Edwards for his unfinished business or Belal Muhammad for another stake at the title fight. “I love this company with all my heart they’ve changed my life, made me a multi-millionaire so I’m so thankful to them, so I’m going to let them decide but I don’t know, maybe this kid ‘Bayley Muhammad’ who’s been talking a lot,” said Covington.

He added, “He’s up there in the rankings above me so I think if I beat that guy it gets me right back to a title fight.” Belal Muhammad is next in the line for the welterweight title and is expected to face Leon Edwards soon so Covington might be looking at his 4th title fight. However, nothing has been made certain as of now.

Colby Covington believes that he is just one win away from his fourth title shot but it must be noted that the welterweight division is stacked with many undefeated fighters and Dana White might give chances to such individuals over him.
