Controversial MMA Fighter Sharaputdin Magomedov, Who Assaulted a Couple for PDA, Is Set to Make His UFC Debut Along With Islam Makhachev and Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294

Right around the corner of the last New Year, Magomedov was caught assaulting a couple for kissing in public. Without a doubt, the act garnered heat from the MMA community and beyond. Evidently, the UFC debut of such a controversial athlete will be an interesting one. Here are all the details.

Sharaputdin Magomedov would step into the UFC alongside Islam Makhachev and Khamzat Chimaev

After the cards for UFC 294 were announced, the fight fans’ world spiraled into the realm of excitement. With Chimaev’s awaited return and Makhachev’s rematch with Charles Oliveira, the fans’ entropy refused to come down. However, there was one more fighter who claimed the limelight.

Magomedov, the mixed martial artist with an impressive record of 11 wins and no losses, is set to step foot into the UFC octagon for the very first time. The Thai supplements company, Gorilla Supplements, announced his debut on Instagram as he entered their country to train for his upcoming fight. The caption read,

“We would like to welcome back our sponsored fighter @shara_bullet77 to Thailand as he’s here now in preparation for his upcoming @ufc debut on October 21.”

The hype for UFC Abu Dhabi has been going up for all the good reasons. However, in January 2023, shocking news hot off the press reached fans: the Dagestani fighter taken into police custody as Magomedov chased the couple down an escalator of a shopping mall.

Magomedov entered public scrutiny for assaulting a couple

Right after the Dagestani warrior signed the contract with the UFC, a video went viral that showed him under the bad lights. The ‘Middleweight Khabib’ was seen confronting a man after he kissed his partner on an escalator. The man attacked the athlete that led up to the brawl later. Once dissipated quickly, Magomedov stood around the corner, waiting to exact revenge.

As the victim passed him, he sucker-punched the man and stomped on his head as soon as he hits the ground, leaving him unconscious. This left the onlookers gasping who quickly came to the aid of the injured man. In a post-debacle statement, he defended his actions saying,

“One has to understand the situation, in Makhachkala there are unwritten rules, a kind of moral code of our own…In Moscow it is acceptable , but with us it is not acceptable. I could not shut up.”  

While the fighting ability of the athlete impressed everyone, the act of violence did not sit well with the fans. The announcement of the Dagestani debuting on UFC 294 has just shot up the craze for the event even more.
