UFC 294 is just days away as we gear up for Khamzat Chimaev‘s return to the Octagon against Kamaru Usman. ‘Borz’ recently showed the massive change his physique underwent for his middleweight return. However, that is not the same for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. He looks relatively the same as he did as a welterweight and fans have shared their reactions to it.
Kamaru Usman stepped in to replace Paulo Costa at UFC 294. ‘Borrachinha’ suffered a nasty elbow injury and was forced to pull out of the fight against Khamzat Chimaev. However, it does not look like Usman has prepared to fight in a middleweight bout. Let’s take a look at what the situation is about.

Khamzat Chimaev, a few months ago, shared a photo on Twitter (X) where he showed his new physique for his middleweight return. Moreover, fans were astonished to witness the increase in the size of ‘Borz’s body. He carved that physique especially to fight Paulo Costa, who’s also a fairly muscular fighter. However, the same cannot be said for Kamaru Usman, and a recent post uploaded by ESPN on Twitter (X).

ESPN shared a post with a picture of Kamaru Usman from March 2023, and October 2023. Incidentally, his physique, in the span of seven months, looked unchanged. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ looks as if he is on the same weight limit as he was as a welterweight. This could also be a case of him not getting enough time to build his physique since he took the UFC 294 fight on 11 days’ notice. Let’s see what the fans had to say.
Fans can’t spot any difference in Usman’s physique
The fans were surprised to see that Kamaru Usman looked like the same fighter he was as a welterweight. However, one fan did mention that he had a little more fat around his waistline this time around.
Legit looks the same with slightly more love handle

One fan wondered if ESPN shared the two pictures of Kamaru Usman for fans to spot any differences.
Is this one of those spot the differences tests? Homie looks the same

Meanwhile, most fans echoed the same sentiment that they see no difference in the physique.
Dude looks the exact same lol
— GOOSE (@G0OO0SE) October 18, 2023
However, one fan hilariously claimed that the only change in the two pictures is that the former champion had different shorts.
He has changed his shorts

One fan said:
There’s zero difference haha who posted this

Another user on Twitter (X) claimed that Usman’s head now looks a bit smaller.

Kamaru Usman is known to always stay in shape. As such, it was not that hard of a decision for him to step in on such a short notice. However, the concerns around his physique could prove to be detrimental, as Khamzat Chimaev has added a considerable amount of muscle, which could help him overpower the former welterweight champion. We will have to wait and see how things unfold at UFC 294.
