With his upcoming fight on the horizon against Leon Edwards, Colby Covington has surely been a cynosure. The UFC welterweight has also surged in popularity as the front-runner to succeed as welterweight champion. The anticipated battle between him and Edwards has been the center of excitement in the UFC community.UFC bigwig Dana White had revealed that Covington will be the next in line to try his hand at the welterweight clash.

Covington has, of course, already been in the news for his attempts to hype a fight with Conor McGregor. The same scenes seem to repeat themselves, as he was spotted selling the bout when he was asked about it.

Covington’s eager anticipation of a potential Conor McGregor showdown

At the Turning Point USA leadership summit, a fan questioned Covington about a potential fight between him and McGregor. His expression suggested that he was eager to express his notions regarding the contest. The question seemed captivating as it quoted, “When are you going to take out McGregor?”

Covington likely had a response that the fans were waiting to hear. He started out by explaining his ideas in great detail as he said, “Oh yeah! Thats the big fight. That’s what people want to see. They want to see USA vs Ireland; they want to see you know the money  fight. That fight sells. Thats the biggest fight UFC could ever do. And I think it lines up perfectly if I beat Leon Edwards’ scissor hands this summer or this fall.I think Conor’s going to have something to say when I get that Welterweight title in a couple of months, so. Definitely next before winter me and Conor are going to square and then we see who the baddest man in the planet is.”

Covington unequivocally expressed his reasons for deeming the bout with McGregor as the biggest. With passion in his voice, he highlighted the high stakes, the immense fan interest, and the potential for a career-defining victory, making it a significant milestone in his fighting journey. Covington has also tried to hype the bout against Conor McGregor in the past while speaking to a well-known MMA channel on YouTube.

Covington said that the Irishman would be able to sell the highest PPVs in UFC thanks to his star power and reputation within the organization. He also said why is this contest the God’s plan as he tried to build the hype for potentially big setup.
