The rivalry between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov is in fact one of the most followed ones in the combat sports universe. The heat was so great that no one, including beloved UFC commentator Joe Rogan, could peel their eyes off of the events ahead of and at UFC 229. Rogan touched on this in an episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’. In a conversation with David Goggins, Rogan spoke about his experience during the weigh-ins of Nurmagomedov’s title defense against Conor McGregor.

A mixed martial arts fan took to Twitter and posted a clip from ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ where the famed podcaster seemingly hailed Khabib Nurmagomedov and, thus, fans reacted to it.
Fans believe Joe Rogan took shots at ‘Mystic Man’
The UFC 229 ceremonial weigh-in emcee said, “When he fought Conor McGregor and they were booing him at the weigh-ins, he goes ‘I’m gonna smash your boy’. … When I’m talking to him and they were booing and cheers like- They’re all Conor McGregor fans. They flew in from Ireland. I mean, this is a big fight, and he’s like ‘I’m gonna smash your boy.’”
Joe Rogan witnessed it firsthand, as he had one of the best seats in the house on October 5, 2018. The UFC commentator kept on repeating Nurmagomedov’s words, “I’m gonna smash your boy.” He was amazed at how the Dagestani fighter kept his cool, although the entire crowd was booing him.
Fans knew all along that McGregor hadn’t responded to Rogan while the video was recorded. However, they still found it funny and made a joke out of it, all the while pointing out that the 55-year-old was quicker to record the episode than McGregor’s response.
Here is what people had to say:
Twitter users were quick to share their thoughts online. One fan wrote, “Conor would beat Joe and Khabib at the same night now.”

While one social media user had a different opinion than others, a person thought Rogan was trolling the Irish athlete. Another user believed that the JRE host would never be able to get the UFC maiden simultaneous double champion on his famed podcast.

The former ‘Fear Factor’ host wasn’t a fan of McGregor’s knee that hit Nurmagomedov while on the ground during their fight. Rogan claimed that the attack was illegal. However, ‘The Notorious’ wasn’t happy about it at all.
McGregor responded, “That was an illegal knee on the head of a grounded opponent… Joe, you little fool. What are you talking about ‘smash this and smash that’? What was smashed? My knee into his f**king eye socket, yeah?… ‘That’s a knee to a grounded opponent!’ Call the cops. F**king tick ye.”
