Conor McGregor last fought in the Octagon more than a year ago against Dustin ‘Diamond’ Poirier. Unfortunately, he lost the fight in a TKO loss and also snapped his shin during the match. Since then, the Irishman has been away from inside-the-ring duties.

Chael Sonnen, however, is impressed by the recent wrestling video of the Dublin-born. He mentions that “he [Conor McGregor] does three things perfect.”

The first thing McGregor does perfectly

The former UFC legend advises the aspiring fighter to watch the former UFC two-division champion’s training video without fail. He mentioned and explained, “The first is called a side- Whizzer. If you put your hook, which means you put your fist on the guy’s armpit. That is going to allow you to hang on.”

Further, he made a parallel with a cowboy on the ball. Therefore, he added, “That would be the equivalent of the cowboy on the ball. You will never be taken down until you take out your side-Whizzer.”

The second thing McGregor does perfectly

The 45-year-old then jumps to the second thing and calls it “hips and head pressure“. Besides, he compliments Conor McGregor for working these together.

He continues, “He [Conor McGregor] will post your head and push it down so you’re weak. He will then cover it with his hip.”

Despite McGregor pulling this effortlessly, Sonnen cautions MMA fans that it is not a usual sight. He stated, “But you can work with guys for five and six, and seven years. You can’t get them to do that.”

The third thing McGregor does perfectly

The former middleweight and light-heavyweight championship contender then explained the final perfect thing. He pointed out, “When Conor McGregor is in trouble in wrestling, he backs away.

Subsequently, Sonnen explains why you can’t back up in wrestling as it will dock points. However, the scenario is completely different when it comes to MMA. He asserted, “It’s legal in MMA, it’s legal in boxing, it’s legal in kickboxing. It’s legal in Jiu-Jitsu. It’s legal in every form of combat except for wrestling, and that should be a big clue.”
