Conor McGregor has yet again made a move against Michael Chandler, despite being without a date and an opponent. The fight between the two was something that the entire world of mixed martial arts had been waiting for with extreme eagerness, ever since the two began their beef. After all, The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 is yet to conclude with a final fight between the coaches. However, things went wrong with the Irishman’s injury, and the fight had to be postponed. But when ‘Iron’ found himself a fight with Charles Oliviera for the co-main event at UFC 309, McGregor was left in utter devastation.
Nevertheless, Chandler claimed that he would indeed be the first fighter to go up against the Irishman when he made a comeback to the UFC. And the former UFC double champion also seemed to believe so, as he kept his aim focused on ‘Iron’.

In a private suite in Las Vegas, Dave Schmulenson had an interview with ‘The Notorious’ on his YouTube show. Needless to say, the one question that attracted the maximum attention revolved around McGregor’s return. ‘The Schmo’ asked, “Who’s the most worthy man to get a red panty night, to be fighting you, Conor McGregor?”
Even though he was still looking for a date, Conor McGregor had only one name to out for. And it was none other than Michael Chandler. He replied, “You know, we’re looking for the date, hopefully. I’d like to square it away with Michael Chandler, you know. I’d like to get Chandler in. We’ve had a, you know, we’ve had our beef. It’s not settled. He has a match scheduled. I’d like to fight maybe before that so, or before he’s recovered, or whatnot. So, you know, there’s a few names in the line at the minute. There’s a few names being discussed.”
The finale of TUF 31 ended at UFC 292 with Team Chandler claiming absolute victory. However, the coaches’ challenge was yet to be completed. After months of back and forth, Chandler and McGregor were scheduled to fight each other at UFC 303. Unfortunately, the ‘Mystic Mac’ broke his pinky toe and had to pull out. And now, as the Irishman recovered and was about to take the fight against ‘Iron’, Chandler decided to stop waiting and fight anyone who’s available. No doubt, he found his savior in Charles Oliveira, as the Brazilian took up the fight for November 2024.
