At the Anthony Joshua vs. Robert Helenius fight in the iconic O2 Arena in London, Conor McGregor publicly confirmed that he will face Michael Chandler in December. The Irishman has been out of the Octagon after breaking his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 two years ago.

His injury and comeback closely mirror the story of middleweight Chris Weidmanwho broke his leg in a horrific injury in his bout against Uriah Hall in 2021. Weidman will be making his comeback against Brad Tavares at UFC 292, headlined by the title bout between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley. And, according to TUF finalist Brad Katona, McGregor has confirmed his status for the event.

UFC 292 will also serve as the finale for season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. Team Conor McGregor faced Team Michael Chandler this season. Kurt Holobaugh will face Austin Hubbard in the lightweight bout. While Brad Katona will fight Cody Gibson for the bantamweight bracket. On Twitter, journalist Aron Bronsteter revealed that Katona had told him that Conor McGregor will be attending UFC 292 this Saturday.

However, Katona warned the journalist that while to his knowledge, McGregor will attend the event, nothing can be said for certain as the Dubliner may change his mind anytime before the event.

Team Conor McGregor’s horrible performance on TUF 31

Team McGregor only managed to notch up one win in the early stages of the season. This forced the UFC to move some of the victorious fighters from Team Chandler to the opposing camp. However, McGregor can take some consolation. At least one of his original fighters- Rico DiSciullo did manage to make it to the semi-finals. However, he lost to Cody Gibson.

Fans are eagerly waiting for MMA’s biggest star to return to the Octagon. The Irishman has already charted the course he wants to take after the Chandler fight. McGregor has called out BMF belt-holder Justin Gaethje for his belt and tweeted that he will face Nate Diaz in a trilogy after that. First, however, the Irishman needs to defeat rival coach Michael Chandler in their slated welterweight bout. The latter, too, will undoubtedly attend the event, which might lead to some fireworks between the two. Just one of the many reasons to tune into UFC 292 this Saturday.
