Conor McGregor has achieved a lot of success in the octagon. However, The Notorious is not only known for that. Over the years, The Irishman has been appreciated for his brilliant business acumen. McGregor’s Proper 12 Irish whiskey earned a lot of praise from fans and customers. However, as per a recent interview, Proper 12 might not be The Irishman’s idea alone.

The Russian Hammer who was writing a book at the time said, “The selling point of my book will be the Proper 12 Whiskey story. A few people know, but this was actually my idea. I was the person who came up with the idea to do a whiskey for Conor.”

Lobov had McGregor declining a vodka deal with Game of Thrones famed Mountain, with whom the Irish star has trained before. The Russian Hammer continued, “I told him about my presentation from college. “I told him about the dominance of Irish whiskey and all of that. He said, ‘you go off and see what deal you can put together’ and I went on my way.”

Lobov and McGregor have been teammates and sparring partners for a while now. Conor McGregor who is known for his loyalty toward family and friends offered Lobov a huge sum for this idea.

Conor McGregor offered Artem Lobov $1 million

The Russian Hammer got to work after this conversation with Conor McGregor. Lobov gathered his connections and was eventually able to strike a deal. Proper 12 Irish whiskey was an instant success, and The Notorious offered to give Lobov $1 million from the same.

Due to his work, ‘The Notorious decided to reward Artem Lobov financially. However, The Russian Hammer turned it down. Lobov said, “Conor offered me $1M but I turned it down, I didn’t accept it.” 

Conor McGregor has used the help of Artem Lobov to prepare for his fights. The Notorious looked to reward Lobov for the same. Lobov said, “You know, throughout my career whenever I have helped Conor with camps, he offered to pay me for them camps, but I never accepted money from him

Lobov’s refusal stems from the deep bond he and McGregor share as close friends. “I said, ‘we’ve always been friends and helped each other. I never paid you for my camps, so I’m not gonna accept money from you for my camps either,’” concluded Lobov.

Proper 12 Irish Whiskey was a major hit for Conor McGregor. However, the UFC star eventually sold his shares to the owners of famed tequila brand Jose Cuervo. The reported sum of this deal was $600 million.
