Conor McGregor is all fired up for a return. ‘The Notorious’ has been out of the Octagon for over two years since he snapped his leg while facing Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman has been open about the toll this inactivity and his consecutive losses have had on his mental well-being and is thus keen to return to the Octagon.

The fighter’s coach opened up about his thoughts on the timeline and the work that is being put in. But does Dana White’s recent statement approve it?

Owen Roddy, who has been one of Conor McGregor’s long-time coaches, spoke to ‘TheMacLife’ about the timeline for ‘Mac’s upcoming return. The former two-division UFC and CW champion is slated to fight Michael Chandler sometime next year.

On being asked when McGregor might be returning, Roddy echoed Dana White and McGregor’s sentiment that it will probably be in April next year, around the same time as UFC 300.

“I think it’s a great fight for Conor. Conor’s away at the moment, but he’s working hard. You can see the content he’s putting out there. He’s full steam ahead. I’d imagine he’ll be home for Christmas and then, you know, we get the band back together,” he said.

“Whether it’s in Dubai, and you know we full steam ahead till we get that finalized day, you know. Hopefully April or in around that time. But I’m excited for it,” Roddy added.

During a recent podcast appearance, White said, “We don’t have anything dialed in yet, if I knew even a little bit, I’d say summer if I’ve got to give you an answer, I’d say summer.” So will fans have to wait till the summer of 2024 to see McGregor fight? Only time will tell.
