Weidman had also suffered a similar injury as McGregor when he broke his leg at UFC 261 against Uriah Hall. As such, in a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Weidman stated, “I know he watched my fight, I think he probably learned a lot watching my fight. Some of the red flags of what to be prepared for, for whoever he fights… …there is a psychological effect when you break your leg in half like that. So you need to really get that habit back strong and focus on that.”

He also emphasized the psychological impact of such injuries, urging McGregor to focus on rebuilding his confidence, particularly in throwing kicks, and stressed the importance of mental resilience alongside physical rehabilitation.
