Conor McGregor recently announced that he will be making his comeback on July 29th against Michael Chandler. Meanwhile, UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping stated that ‘The Notorious’ could soon find himself fighting for the title. As such, he dropped a few possible opponents for the former UFC double champion.
After months of speculations surrounding his return, Conor McGregor is finally returning to action. The Irishman was heavily linked to a UFC 300 return, but that had to be pushed back and International Fight Week will be the occasion when McGregor gets back inside the Octagon. However, a win against Michael Chandler could propel ‘The Notorious’. Let’s see what Michael Bisping had to say.

There is no doubt that everybody is looking forward to seeing Conor McGregor fight again. As such, Michael Bisping is also excited to see how the Irishman fares after a long hiatus against the 5th-ranked UFC lightweight. He said, “That fight’s [McGregor vs Chandler] gonna go down at 185 pounds and I am excited for that.”
Nevertheless, Michael Bisping did not count out a possible title fight for Conor McGregor in the future. ‘The Count’ believes that a win over Michael Chandler could see Dana White pitting ‘The Notorious’ against Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s protégé Islam Makhachev for the lightweight strap. “If Conor wins, sure enough, I believe he’ll go on to fight Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title,” Bisping added. Not only that, but the Hall of Famer pointed out yet another title fight for McGregor. Let’s have a look at that front.
Conor’s chances of fighting for the middleweight strap or facing a former rival
Conor McGregor mentioned that he will make his return at a much heavier weight class. The fight between him and Michael Chandler will take place at 185 pounds, as per the Irishman. Hence, Michael Bisping claims that it should not come as a shocker to the fans when they see McGregor fighting either Dricus du Plessis or Sean Strickland for the middleweight championship. ‘The Count’ further stated, “Or who knows? He fights Dricus du Plessis or Sean Strickland for the middleweight strap.”

Even if the aforementioned fights don’t take place, there is a chance that Conor McGregor could welcome a former rival back to the promotion, Nate Diaz. The Stockton native has been hinting about a potential return to the Octagon and there are no reasons why a trilogy fight between him and ‘The Notorious’ won’t take place. “It’s gonna be hard for him to make 155. But one person out there that he’s got history with, he’s got beef with, is the one and only Nathan Diaz… he’s talking about coming back,” Michael Bisping added.
