UFC President Dana White has an opponent in mind for Conor McGregor. The Irish superstar is eyeing a comeback soon. His return has made headlines ever since he announced he was able to spar. Yet, in the long list of potential opponents, there was no hint at what the UFC wanted to do with McGregor after a tough 2021. But now it appears the UFC President has found a direction for McGregor’s return.

The 52-year-old promoter is looking at the ever-entertaining lightweight who made some splash with his current run inside the Octagon, as McGregor‘s next opponent.

“I really like Chandler vs. Conor after Chandler’s last fight,” said the UFC President. However, he suggested that this would all depend upon the landscape of the lightweight division when ‘The Notorious’ makes his return.

Michael Chandler last defeated Tony Ferguson with a front kick knockout at UFC 274 that had the entire arena at their feet. Afterward, in the Octagon interview, ‘Iron’ called out ‘The Notorious’ for a future matchup. Even McGregor had a positive response to Chandler’s performance and callout.

Now it appears this bout is coming to a full circle, with the UFC President giving it a green light as soon as McGregor is healthy to compete.

Chandler is willing to fight the biggest PPV draw in the UFC at welterweight. However, the former Bellator lightweight champion is eyeing the UFC gold at 155 lbs, thus a lightweight bout would make more sense for him.
