According to reports online, Tony McGregor was hospitalized after he started experiencing chest pain and had to be rushed to the hospital. He was admitted to the Hermitage Hospital in Dublin where he underwent surgery after it was diagnosed that he had suffered a cardiac event.
Conor McGregor was also present among several other relatives to stay by his father’s side as he recovered from the surgery. Tony himself shared an update on his Instagram story where he stated, “Heart attack in the morning, stent in the afternoon, Sweet and sour chicken in the evening, see ya later suckers.”
He also expressed his thanks to the medical staff at the hospital for their expert care as he stated that they were the “best ever” and it has been reported that the senior McGregor is expected to make a full recovery with time.

However, the incident may serve as an unexpected distraction for his son who is gearing up to make his long-awaited return to the Octagon against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29, as it is yet to be confirmed if his father’s recovery timeline will allow him to be present cageside at the event.
With Conor’s success, his family has also been able to enjoy a lifestyle that seemed out of reach during their humble beginnings. In a past interview, Tony McGregor revealed that despite initially not approving of his son’s career choice, he was proven wrong in the best way possible.

However, he was concerned about his son’s chances at success as he revealed, “I didn’t approve of Conor’s job choice initially, because I just couldn’t see the career in it, but I’m bang on board now and have been since well before the UFC. He was able to prove me wrong, which has made me so proud.”
