Famed MMA coach John Kavanagh took to Twitter and gave out a suggestion for ‘The Ultimate Fighter’s return to action. The reality show is set for its twenty-ninth season after last being on air back in 2018. TUF 29 will exclusively stream on ESPN+ in March 2021 starring bantamweight and middleweight aspirants looking to make it big.
Conor McGregor’s coach believes that former TUF winner Brad Katona deserves a crack in the latest season as a bantamweight fighter. ‘Superman’ Katona won TUF 27: Undefeated in April 2019 through a series of stand-out wins. John Kavanagh believes that he could possibly make a run towards obtaining a second belt.
135? How about @bradkatona ? If he wins he'd be the first ever 2 weight @UltimateFighter champion. The #TufTuf https://t.co/yRHHf81BVE

Brad Katona: Star in the making
The Canadian fighter immediately captured fan attention when he fought on the season coached by Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. Through the theme of the season, Brad came in undefeated and would scalp victories on the show that stand the test of time. Any rising star in the UFC has followed a similar trend of earning wins over named fighters, that too in impressive fashion.
He notably choked out Bryce Mitchell who’s a rising star in the featherweight division currently. Although the bout was an exhibition, Katona is the only man to win the day over Mitchell who’s looked impressive. Furthermore, he made an impactful debut in the UFC when he beat out Matthew Lopez at UFC 231.
Chiefly, Brad’s rise in the UFC would be just as sharp as his unfortunate fall that began in May 2019. He lost his third fight in the UFC to bantamweight mauler Merab Dvalishvili, and yet another loss to Hunter Azure would follow. Surprisingly, the promotion would swiftly release Brad Katona from the roster after he went 2-2 in the company.

Fans and media members alike were confused as to why the UFC would let go of a promising divisional prospect. However, a new TUF season on the horizon could lead to an opportunity to once more break in the ranks. What’s more, bantamweight is his natural weight class and would be a viable option to make a comeback.
