Conor McGregor has found his way back to the headlines. After a three-year-long hiatus, the Irish mixed martial artist was all set to make his return with a fight against Michael Chandler, at UFC 303. However, the press conference that was scheduled for the 3rd of June was postponed with an apology note sent by the UFC on social media. Without a doubt, this caused a major uproar in the world of combat sports.

Fight fans began speculating whether they would be able to witness McGregor’s return to the UFC or not. These speculations forced the MMA professionals to weigh in and give their opinion. Despite the rumors, the ‘Mystic Mac’ continued to train and release the training videos on social media. After all, that’s what he usually does. This time as well, the former UFC double champion released a sparring video that found its way to Reddit. 

The video showed McGregor donning white sparring gloves, headgear, and shin pads, and going against a partner who appeared to be just around 125 pounds. This was reflected in the Reddit post’s caption, which went like, “Ngl Conor not looking too shabby. Besides the fact he’s sparring a bantamweight can the gym found at the local kickboxing class and not utilizing his big meaty hooks he’s been throwing on the pads. He might make it to the 2nd round come June 29th.”

Fans react to Conor McGregor sparring against a bantamweight partner

UFC fans took over the comments section and revealed their thoughts on ‘The Notorious’ sparring with a much smaller partner. One fan claimed that McGregor had more authority than his coach, John Kavanagh, and did whatever he felt like. “I’ve also noticed Conor says so gotten much more authority than his own coach. Cavanaugh pretty much let’s him do whatever, so Conor ego trips on ppl built like Artem lolol,” the fan wrote.

Another fan pointed out the celebrity treatment that the former champ got. He wrote about how McGregor has been getting such treatments ever since his fight with Jose Aldo. The comment read, “Idk Conor is a celebrity now the special treatments he’s been getting ever since Aldo fight has been hurting Conor competence slowly to the point now the game has passed him (skill wise).”

One UFC enthusiast pointed out that McGregor’s partner acted exactly like Chandler, and commended him for it. The fan wrote, “OP acting like this random sparring partner isn’t fighting the same way chandler is gonna fight. He’s even similar in size and stature as chandler. Why would he fight bigger, more skilled opponents?” Another fan wrote, “Yah can see how the guy is mimicking Chandler’s style …even the pop takedowns …. interesting.”

Fans also didn’t back down from speculating how the fight between McGregor and Chandler would proceed. “Conor by TKO. This dude is still dangerous and Chandler has one of the lowest fight IQ’s in the UFC top 50. Chandler gets a lucky KO 2/10 fights against Conor,” wrote an admirer of Conor McGregor.

But the fanbase also had some who stood in support of the Irishman. One fan deemed McGregor as the ‘Terminator’ owing to the titanium in his leg. The fan commented, “s***s different now he has a titanium shin bone he’s practically the terminator now.” Another fan wrote, “Yea? Bet on him,” claiming that it would be McGregor who would win.
