As fans are eager to see Conor McGregor return to fight inside the Octagon, ‘The Notorious’ dropped a bombshell on Twitter (X). He shared a screenshot from UFC Fight Pass that revealed his return date to be December 16 – something that Dana White refuted. However, former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub begs to differ.

The screenshot from Conor McGregor sent UFC fans into a frenzy. When Dana White was asked about it, he claimed that he had no idea how it came to be. Moreover, he also doubled down on the fact it was not from the Fight Pass. But Brendan Schaub believes that it is the planned date for McGregor’s return. Let’s see what he had to say.

The former UFC heavyweight fighter stated that he would not have believed that the leaked information was true if it was someone other than Conor McGregor. He is the biggest star in the company, after all. Schaub said, “If it was anybody else, I’d be like, ‘Oh, this is garbage’. But when it’s Conor, they can’t do anything to him.”

Moreover, he believes that, since it is from the Fight Pass, it has to be the real deal. Furthermore, Brendan Schaub also thinks that Michael Chandler will be the one to face McGregor on his return.

“It’s weird it was on Fight Pass. It makes sense that they’re doing it. I like to think it’s gonna happen. It has to be Chandler,” said the former UFC fighter. Not only that, Schaub also spoke about the degree of influence the Irishman has on the promotion.

Due to the exclusion from USADA’s testing pool, Brendan Schaub, at the beginning, thought that it was unlikely that Conor McGregor would fight this year. But, now he is sure about it since it was the initial plan for the former double champion’s return. He further said, “My initial reaction was like, ‘No, they’re not fighting.’ [But now] I think so. That was the plan, right?”

Moreover, McGregor, 35, has been in the UFC for over a decade. With his unique trash-talking skills and vibrant persona, he became the biggest box office attraction in the promotion. As such, Schaub stated that there is no one bigger than Conor McGregor in the entire roster. ‘The Notorious’ does as he pleases. “There’s nobody more powerful in the UFC if that’s what he wants to do… He is the only guy who can make moves like this,” Brendan Schaub added.
