Diaz and McGregor have competed twice before, with both fighters winning 1 fight. The first time Diaz and McGregor fought each other was back at the UFC 196 event. This was McGregor’s welterweight debut, and he lost that fight by a 2nd round submission (rear-naked choke).

The score between McGregor and Diaz is 1-1 and therefore it seems obvious that the 3rd fight between them will happen. The time to do this is also right as both fighters are not in the title picture anymore and this fight can benefit them both.

The fight, if it happens, will be at welterweight as the earlier fights between the two also happened at that weight class. McGregor certainly wants to compete with Diaz, and Diaz never backs away from a challenge. Therefore, we can hope to see these two talented fighters compete inside the Octagon soon.
