As excited as he is about facing Conor McGregor, the road to the fight is not easy for Michael Chandler. One of the most exciting fighters in all of MMA, Chandler, is also one of the hardest workers in the room. At the level he is at, feeling pressure must feel at home for Chandler. However, there are times when even ‘Iron’ Mike feels the weight on his shoulders. One such experience, he revealed recently, was during his time as a coach on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’.

Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor are the coaches for the upcoming season of TUF. With the premiere of TUF 31 only days away, Chandler appeared in a preview show with Jon Anik. Responding to Anik’s question about enjoying the process, Michael Chandler said, “The biggest eye-opener was it was much harder than I thought it was going to be. Partly because I think I cared a little bit too much.” Chandler added that as soon as he interacted with his team in Vegas, he put pressure on himself to give it his all for their sake.

The former UFC title challenger said that he wanted to put his fighters in the best position possible- be it winning the contest or securing a UFC contract. He said, “And a lot of that weighed on me. I’d be lying if it didn’t weigh on me. There were moments where I felt like I was on my last nerve. Last energy cell if you will.”

Finally, he added, “So, it was a tough experience but it was a lot of fun and a very fulfilling experience for me. Because I think I was able to pour into these guys a lot and it was a lot of fun.”
