Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul’s boxing bout faced yet another reality check. McGregor previously took to X and announced that he was in conversations with the Ambani family, who were supposed to finance the bout with $250 million each for Paul and the Irishman to box in India. However, the MMA analyst, Chael Sonnen found a logic that proved that the boxing match would never materialize. The prime reason was the massive $250 million payout.
‘The American Gangster’ had already talked about McGregor vs. Paul on his YouTube talk show, The Bad Guy Inc. For this, he received quite a bit of pushback. But now, it was time for him to strengthen his stance regarding the matchup.
Sonnen said, “I got a stunning amount of pushback. I had made a piece a couple of days ago, and I was talking about the nameless billionaire from India who’s gonna put up $250 million to see Conor McGregor fight Logan Paul. Now, there’s not a single piece of that that’s true.”

Well, ‘The Bad Guy’ argued that no one would pay such a huge amount to see the ‘Mystic Mac’ box Jake Paul. After all, McGregor was 0-1 in boxing, while Paul was a YouTuber-turned-WWE star. It simply made no sense! Sonnen continued, “There is no part of that story that’s true… People can do stupid things all the time, but not that far… You do not have stories of somebody doing recordly foolish things with their money in a premeditated manner.”

While the buzz around the fight between ‘The Notorious’ and the YouTuber-turned-WWE star was pretty loud, there is yet another reason why it was simply a wishful matchup. And the reason revolved around Conor McGregor’s UFC contract.

Another reason why Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul will never materialize
The ‘Mystic Mac’ still has 2 fights left in his UFC contract. This might become a major obstacle for McGregor to go to India and fight Paul, in case that actually is a legitimate plan. Why? Because Dana White might not allow the Irishman while he’s still under contract with the UFC. Sonnen weighed in on this in a previous talk and said, “Whatever industry you’re in—none of you, zero, have a job where your boss isn’t going to use you. Whatever department it is, whatever you do, your boss will not put you to work for another boss. That is not accurate.”
On top of that, ‘The American Gangster’ revealed that there was not a single billionaire in India who wanted to bring in McGregor and Paul just to change the direction of tourism in the country. After all, it was something that the government does in complete exclusivity. As per Sonnen, no individual has any say in that.
