However, his grappling skills have usually gone unnoticed. One of his most famous BJJ training partners is Dillon Danis, an MMA fighter for Bellator. McGregor also shares his grappling training footage with his fans on social media.
In the first fight against Nate Diaz, McGregor suffered a loss via a rear-naked choke in the 2 round. This led to many fans expecting him to come out with improved submission skills in their rematch at UFC 202. However, McGregor kept the fight on his feet and denied Diaz’s attempts at grappling him.
The post shared by McGregor on Twitter/X reveals his thought process during the fight. McGregor shared a picture of Nate Diaz on the ground with him standing over him. The fight ended with a decision victory for McGregor after 5 rounds. While the decision was controversial due to the close number of significant strikes, McGregor got the nod from the judges. After the fight, he was full of praise for Diaz and his performance. He made the following statement, “You’ve got to respect Nate and the style of fighting that he brings, how can you not?”
With McGregor’s return to the UFC athlete testing pool confirmed, fans are left wondering who will be his first opponent. And McGregor might be interested in a conclusion fight for his saga with Nate Diaz!
Nate Diaz and McGregor want another chance to conclude their trilogy
Nate Diaz, who last fought against Jake Paul in a boxing match in August, lost the bout via decision. However, his trilogy rematch with McGregor still has fans excited to see the two clash once more. In a now-deleted tweet from August, McGregor stated that despite Diaz losing his fight to Paul, he would still be willing to fight him in a third fight. He stated, “Regardless of that nonsense match me and Nate will be completing the trilogy.”
Diaz also confirmed his interest in a third fight. He made an appearance on the Full Send podcast in August, where he stated “I’m ready to see him get back and do something cool too.”

If the proposed fight indeed does occur, it has the potential to become one of the most anticipated trilogy fights in UFC history. Conor McGregor was originally slated to face Michael Chandler at the end of TUF 31, but their fight is yet to be confirmed. Chandler has stated that he believes the fight will ensue at UFC 300.
