Amidst the whole Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler drama, a third fighter ended up getting dragged. However, he wasn’t defenseless in any sense of the word. Recently, McGregor and bantamweight fighter Petr Yan jokingly squared up at an IBA Champions Night, a boxing event that was witnessed by many.
It is now no fresh news that Chandler and McGregor are meant to fight each other in the cage. However, his squaring up with someone else just sends the rumors flying. Chandler could obviously not take all the drama and voiced his opinion. And when he did, Yan was ready for him.

Petr Yan is currently the 5th ranked fighter in the UFC’s bantamweight division. He and McGregor have very little chance of actually fighting unless ‘The Notorious’ decides to cut a lot of weight. Chandler, who considered all of this just an unnecessary show-off pointed this detail out.
“Looking for a 135er or preferably a 125er to face off with, on camera, at an obscure event…any takers? I need relevancy…” Chandler tweeted earlier today. Taking a shot at McGregor didn’t come without a response from Peter Yan himself.
Clearly, Yan has already picked sides. For him, McGregor is the better lightweight fighter. There is much speculation regarding the weight class that McGregor will enter with into the cage. Both he and ‘Iron’ have fought at lightweight, and McGregor has also been the champ before.

So his making a comeback in the same weight class is expected. But he was also a featherweight champion. This surely gives him a little bit of wiggle room when it comes to picking and choosing his opponents. The Chandler fight is much awaited. But will it actually happen?

Michael Chandler has previously gone on record speaking about how the mind games played by the Irishman and his team won’t work on him. However, with each new public interaction, this seems to be less and less true. Here’s what he said in a recent conversation about the whole ordeal.
“I’ve seen Conor talk about other opponents, I’ve seen Conor talk about different dates, I’ve seen Conor you know completely dismiss me and act like the fight with me is not happening. These are all ways that these guys try to get inside of people’s heads. Unluckily for them your boy’s bulletproof,” he told Ariel Helwani of The MMA Hour.
