Conor McGregor makes it a point to give his greetings to his rivals on their birthdays. However, he does it in his own style of wrapping the wishes with subtle jibes. This time around the Irishman has wished his only opponent in the boxing ring, Floyd Mayweather, by taking a shot at his absence in the highest-paid athlete’s list.

Even though Floyd Mayweather’s birthday is on 24th Feb, ‘The Notorious One’ wished him a few days early. McGregor made it a point to remind Mayweather that the latter’s name didn’t feature in Forbes’ list of the highest-paid athletes’ for 2020.

“Happy birthday Floyd! We miss you on the Forbes,” McGregor wrote on Instagram.

Although Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather topped the Forbes list of the highest-paid athletes, he couldn’t feature in this list on account of his retirement. Meanwhile, the former UFC double champion stood at the sixteenth spot on the list.

It is interesting to note that McGregor’s highest ranking on the list came in 2018 when he finished fourth. A major reason behind the same was his fight with none other than Floyd Mayweather himself in 2017.

Conor McGregor should continue his appearances on the Forbes’ list in the coming years

McGregor fought only once in the period, against Donald Cerrone, which was considered while preparing last year’s list. Mystic Mac returned this year with his fight against Dustin Poirier. Following his loss against ‘The Diamond’, McGregor has been gunning for a rematch, a wish the UFC will oblige in his next fight. Hence, if things go as per plan, McGregor may fight twice or thrice in this calendar year.

On the other hand, Floyd Mayweather will also return to the ring for a fight against YouTuber Logan Paul.

Both Mayweather and McGregor have a rivalry that still involves back-and-forth on social media. The undefeated boxer went after his last professional opponent, following his loss to Poirier at UFC 257.

McGregor also rarely misses an opportunity to pick up on Mayweather. The prospect of a rematch between the two always remains up in the air, but McGregor has shifted his attention to Manny Pacquiao in the recent past.
