Is McGregor's call-out to Mayweather in BKFC a genius move or a desperate stunt?

UFC superstar Conor McGregor was the center of attention in combat sports yesterday, leading the first-ever Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) event in Spain. The Irishman not only shouldered the responsibility as a promoter but also transformed the night into a ‘red panty night’ for the promotion and the fighters, propelling the event to blockbuster status. The success of the main event highlighted BKFC’s potential to rival organizations like Bellator and the PFL.

After the main event concluded smoothly, an unexpected twist unfolded. McGregor snatched the microphone from BKFC President David Feldman and, in true ‘Mystic Mac’ fashion, announced that the fighters would receive “double pay,” catching everyone off guard, including Feldman. This decision sparked questions from critics, with some wondering if McGregor had overstepped his authority as co-owner.

Did Conor McGregor abuse his power at the BKFC event?

Back in May, when Conor McGregor acquired the “needle moving” ownership in the BKFC, no one thought he would take it seriously or participate equally in the promotion’s events. However, despite facing some ethical issues, the Irishman has dedicated himself to the BKFC since acquiring ownership, and all his moves seem to be for the betterment of the promotion, with the consent of its co-partners and authorities, including the recent one. This was evident when McGregor announced the double bonuses at the conclusion of BKFC Marbella.

On social media, where everyone was slamming McGregor’s actions, a fan echoed support for him and criticized his critics in a comment, stating, “For the people saying ‘he’s outta control,’ the fight was insane. They were going to do extra bonuses, and Connor upped it to extra pay as well. Y’all stay reaching, acting like he’s off his head. Get lives!” In response, ‘The Notorious One’ hammered down the final nail in the debate’s coffin, claiming, “YES!!”

Yesterday, BKFC Marbella not only highlighted Conor McGregor’s action to increase fight purses but also generated many big headlines. This includes McGregor’s interview with JNMediaUK, where he ignited the possibility of a second showdown against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in the BKFC realm.

BKFC Gives Green Light to ‘Mystic Mac’ vs. Floyd Mayweather Historic Showdown

Conor McGregor is already falling behind his schedule to return to the octagon and fulfill his remaining contract with the UFC. This is due in part to his injuries or sometimes because of other endeavors getting in the way. Amid all this chaos, the Irishman wants to try his luck in the BKFC arena against none other than his undefeated former rival, Floyd Mayweather, who once earned him $100 million. Intending to repeat the past, McGregor disclosed his interest in a candid interview at the latest BKFC event, calling out Mayweather, “Floyd, you little f—er. You’re doing bad conversations trying to get a boxing match at 155. Fight me my way! I’m the side; you’re all bare-knuckle, McGregor!”

In response, BKFC President David Feldman gave a thumbs-up to the potential fight in an interview with Bloody Elbow, seeing it as a golden opportunity. He noted the capability of both fighters to attract fans, stating, “I’d love to see Floyd Mayweather versus Conor McGregor in bare-knuckle because I think it’s a whole different fight, with the clinching that you can do and getting hit with the knuckles.”

What are your thoughts on Conor McGregor’s remarks? Do you believe he really went ‘out of his mind,’ or was he just announcing the double fight purses that were already decided? And when will we see ‘The Notorious One’ back in action? Drop your views below.
