Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team do not like Conor McGregor. And for good reason. In the buildup to their fight, ‘Notorious’ relentlessly insulted ‘The Eagle’s father, family, religion, and country. This deeply offended Nurmagomedov, a conservative, stoic, respectful fighter who loved his father, family, and religion. Unlike many, who saw it as ‘Mac’s way to promote the fight, Nurmagomedov took it personally.

In the match, he proceeded to dominate and try to kill the Irishman with a neck crank, until the referee intervened and forced Nurmagomedov to release ‘Mac’. While Nurmagomedov remains relatively silent about the former UFC and CW two-division champion, the same cannot be said for his manager, Ali Abdelaziz. The latter takes every opportunity he gets to fire shots at McGregor, often his Twitter account. And weeks after calling him a “one-round fighter,” Abdelaziz has come out with another gem.

Finally, Islam Makhachev has moved to the top of the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings. He and his camp expressed their discontent when his first victory against Alexander Volkanovski did not lead to the Dagestani moving up to the top of the p4p list.

This was attributed to ‘Volk’, as he not only just moved up a weight class to face Makhachev, but performed so well that many felt he had won. However, after Islam’s dominant first-round victory against the Aussie at UFC 294, there is no doubt who the better fighter is.

And this performance has finally led the lightweight champion to the top of the p4p rankings, beating heavyweight champion Jon Jones. And Abdelaziz, who is also Makhachev’s manager took to X (formerly Twitter) and celebrated in style- by calling Conor McGregor a drug addict.

He posted a picture of Makhachev and Nurmagomedov with “2 PoundForPound Kings from Dagestan”
written on it. For the caption, he tagged ‘Mac’ and asked what he thought of this. “@TheNotoriousMMA hey crackhead how do you like this,” Abdelaziz wrote. With Makhachev finally being number 1 in the p4p rankings, it would be interesting to see who he fights next. Though his manager did recently shed some light on who Makhachev’s next opponent might be, and it’s not Charles Oliveira.

Dana White had said in the UFC 294 post-fight press conference that Oliveira deserves a title shot against Makhachev next. This, however, does not seem to be what the Makhachev’s camp wants. A few days ago, Abdelaziz tweeted that the lightweight champion will be fighting BMF title holder Justin Gaethje in his next title defense.

“Charles Oliveira don’t deserve nothing @Justin_Gaethje next,” he tweeted. This, however, has not been confirmed. And while the UFC takes into consideration what the champion prefers, it will take the final call on who Makhachev fights next. So this uncertainty will continue until an announcement by Dana White and the UFC.
