Conor McGregor is nothing if not outspoken. Known for his verbosity and mic skills, which are a large part of his becoming the most popular mixed martial artist in history, he also occasionally graces fans with sober, serious fight analysis.
And he did exactly that for the upcoming UFC 294 co-main event between Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is stepping in for Paulo Costa, who pulled out after having to undergo elbow surgery. ‘Mac’ made surprising comments that are sure to tick off Usman and please Chimaev.

Khamzat Chimaev will face Kamaru Usman at UFC 294 in a middleweight bout. This will serve as a title eliminator. The winner of this bout will get a middleweight title shot against Sean Strickland next. And while Usman is a slight betting favorite going into the bout given his credentials, Conor McGregor has a different view from the bookmakers.
McGregor took to X (formerly Twitter) and gave his opinion on the upcoming UFC 294 co-main event bout and how he sees the cards stacked up before they clash at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE on October 21.
“A much better fighter at 185. But he must face bigger opponents now, albeit not this fight as he faces a 170 on a steep skid. But he himself gets to weigh the bigger weight. A perfect fight for the Chechen. I am excited to see this story unfold,” the former two-division champion wrote.

‘Mac’ characterized Usman as a welterweight who is declining. The Nigerian is on a two-fight losing streak to welterweight champion Leon Edwards, and some feel he is not the same fighter he once was. This, no doubt, will be added motivation for the former welterweight champion who would be eager to prove his critics wrong. McGregor added that Usman was the “perfect fight” for ‘Borz’ and was excited to see them fight two days from now.

Khamzat Chimaev thinks he is ‘levels’ above Sean Strickland
Chimaev is confident that he will beat Usman at UFC 294. The Chechen is already starting to trash-talk Strickland. ‘Borz’ told reporters that skill-wise he is levels above his former training partner, and that he is stratospheres above ‘Tarzan’.

Interestingly, his upcoming opponent, Usman has already beaten Strickland once when they met in a welterweight bout back in 2017. This is why fans are so excited to see the Chechen juggernaut fight ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ in Abu Dhabi and how the already tumultuous middleweight division pans out after it.
