Conor McGregor’s business is expanding outside the octagon, and his latest move has caused waves in the thriving $28.6 billion music industry. The UFC star, along with business partners Richard Buck and Julian O’Brien, launched Greenback Records with the goal of paying musicians fairly and supporting creative freedom. Now, the label has released another massive single, cementing the former UFC double champion’s expanding influence in the music industry.

Greenback Records and ‘The Notorious’ offered an early peek of their latest tune on Instagram, captioning it, “We couldn’t be more proud than to release this one to the world 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. @zack_telander x @thehighkingsofficial ‘Unsure’ #newmusic #outnow” ‘Unsure’ is a collaboration between Zack Telander and The High Kings. The post quickly gained traction, with fans and industry insiders taking notice of Greenback Records’ latest project.

It is worth noting that the single dropped at a time when the industry was experiencing a massive rise. In 2024, total revenues climbed by 10% to $28.6 billion, a growth of 10% compared to the previous year. So now, Greenback Records is positioning itself as a global brand in the era of streaming and independent musicians’ increased control over their work.

As Conor McGregor balances his fighting career with his growing business endeavors, Greenback Records is gradually becoming more than simply a side activity. With each new release, the label gains a reputation in the competitive music industry. However, it is worth noting that despite being from the UFC, the Irishman has quite a pull in the music realm. So much so that one of his speeches even became a part of a song. But which one?

When a rapper used Conor McGregor’s speech to introduce his song

Even though he has been away from the fight game and currently does not hold any of the organization’s belts, the former UFC double champion is still at the top of the list of the best MMA stars in the world, especially in terms of popularity. Proof of this is that one of his most famous speeches was used by Canadian rapper Tory Lanez in one of his iconic songs. But what speech are we talking about?

Conor McGregor fought Eddie Alvarez in November 2016 to win the UFC lightweight belt, making him a two-time UFC champion, as he already held the featherweight title at the time. In the post-fight interview, the Irishman, known for his talkative and provocative style, appeared to apologize to everyone he had previously disrespected. But then, the Irishman used sarcasm to declare that as the king of two categories, he could do whatever he wanted and refuse any request for forgiveness.

He said, “And I’d just like to say from the bottom of my heart, I’d like to take this chance to apologize… to absolutely nobody. The double champ does what the f–k he wants!” This specific part of his speech is now immortalized in the introduction to the song Stupid Again by Canadian rapper Tory Lanez. Now it would be interesting to see if any song from his record label also pulls off a similar move. What do you think? Is any of his other speeches also that iconic to be put in a song? Let us know in the comments.
