UFC star Conor McGregor might have sent a covert message to his fellow compatriot, Liam Neeson. The message comes after the Hollywood actor recently blasted ‘Notorious’ for giving Ireland a ‘bad name’. Additionally, Neeson’s comments received a lot of flakes from the MMA community, as he earlier called the sport senseless. Further, the comparison of UFC fights to bar brawls also raised a few eyebrows. Since then, his comments have become the talk of the town. And, as expected, the outspoken and brash former UFC champion, contrary to his reputation, sent an indirect response to the previous scathing comments.

‘Mystic Mac’ took to his Twitter handle, the forum where his tweet-and-delete shenanigans have gained traction among the fans and made a reference without making much noise. Notably, he declared himself taking pride in his Irish roots.

Conor McGregor and his ‘proud’ response

The 34-year-old, who recently got announced as the coach in the 31st TUF season, tweeted, “Irish proud – always.” Also, an Irish flag followed the text.

Therefore, the two renowned personalities appear on different pages about the notion of reputation. However, this is not the response the fans expected the Dublin-born to issue. Despite the silent and seemingly indirect response, the fans might treat this as the first of many responses to follow. Notably, the SGB Ireland team product last graced the Octagon in a disheartening loss against Dustin ‘Diamond’ Poirier at UFC 264.

Liam Neeson’s scorching comments

In an interview with ‘Men’s Health’ to promote his upcoming movie, ‘Marlowe’, the Schindler’s List protagonist openly admitted that he was not a fan of the UFC. In addition, the 70-year-old stated, “I hate it.” Following this, the Academy Award nominee also spoke his mind about the 22-6 record holder. While he called McGregor a ‘little leprechaun, he also admired his fitness levels.

Thus, he expressed, “That little leprechaun Conor McGregor, he gives Ireland a bad name. I know he’s fit, and I admire him for that. But I can’t take it.”
