Is Conor McGregor's mockery of Belal Muhammad's staph infection crossing the line of sportsmanship?

Conor McGregor does not like UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad. Like at all. It was therefore not surprising to see the Irishman take to social media to mock ‘Bully B’ for pulling out of his scheduled UFC 310 clash against Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Muhammad revealed that he has been diagnosed with a severe bone infection on one of his toes, and is required to rest for the next six weeks. This means he will not be able to make it to the December 7 card, even if he wants. But the bombastic Irishman was vicious as usual in blasting the 170-pound champ and trod familiar ground in his criticism of Muhammad.

“Scutter talk just like your fighting. You lambasted ufc world champions multiple times on having to reschedule their bouts thru injury and now it has come down on you like a bomb from the sky, it is glorious to see!” McGregor began his long tirade.

As usual, ‘Mac’ mocked Muhammad for his purportedly ‘boring’ style of fighting and proclivity for decisions. Of course, the welterweight champion’s wrestling-heavy fighting style is the most often criticized aspect of his game and has made him one of the most hated fighters in the promotion among fans.

No fight. No money. But staph infection hahahaja LOL! BUM! Stripped! Instantly. Zero Knockdowns/any excitement or traffic or views or tickets sales in bout, and now also non reliable to show? Strip. Cut. Infected fighter. You have infections. 🤮,” ‘Mac’ tweeted.

It should be noted that Conor McGregor may be especially bombastic and harsh in his criticism of ‘Bully B’ since the latter had mocked the Irishman for pulling out of his UFC 303 clash against Michael Chandler earlier this year. ‘Mac’, too, had a toe injury and Muhammad having the gall to pull out of his own fight because of similar reasons seems to have especially infuriated him. But Belal Muhammad is not one to take anything laying down. Which is why it was not surprising to see him respond in kind to the Dubliner.

Belal Muhammad has a vicious response for Conor McGregor

Belal Muhammad tweeted out a picture of his left arm, which has an IV going through it, and had some choice words for McGregor, essentially calling him a drug addict. “I have this for antibiotics.. you use needles because you are junkie .. we are not the same,” Muhammad tweeted in reply.

McGregor and Muhammad’s feud goes back a long ways, of course, with the Irishman having said that he would love to “cave” Bully B’s skull in a fight. To which the American had claimed that he would relish the opportunity to fight McGregor since he can “literally slap him around the cage.”

And that fight may potentially happen sometime in the future since McGregor was set to face Chandler at welterweight on his comeback. For now, however, the Irishman’s return to the octagon after four years of inactivity still seems uncertain, with Dana White having claimed that ‘Mac’ will fight sometime next year. Except for that, no other details are known about when the Irishman will be back in action. What are your thoughts on Conor McGregor blasting Belal Muhammad for pulling out of UFC 310?
