Conor McGregor was pretty upset when he didn’t get a card for UFC 310. Instead, Dana White decided to let Belal Muhammad take on the headliner fight for the event in December 2024. That simply gave the ‘Mystic Mac’ a chance to aim for domination in three different weight classes in the MMA promotion, and he put the welterweight champion in his crosshairs. Just like Alex Pereira, McGregor has a chance at becoming a triple champion.
The former 2-division champion recently stumbled upon a clip of the fight between Muhammad and Vicente Luque from April 2022. Needless to say, ‘Remember The Name’ unleashed all hell upon Luque and won the bout via a unanimous decision. Despite the strength that Muhammad displayed, McGregor seemed confident as he issued a challenge to the WW champ.
Taking to X, McGregor wrote, “I’d love to crush my left hook into belal’s temple and take down the triple crown. I’d do it easily. And fast! I’d cave his skull heavy! The hurdles I face getting back to the octagon are just harrowing.” He went on to shed some light on how disheartened he was the broken pinky forced him out of UFC 303.

But looking at Belal Muhammad as a champion was what enraged the Irish mixed martial artist. Conor McGregor continued, “ I am so sad over my June 29th fight cancellation. To think this bum is now a UFC champion with zero knockdowns on his resume whatsoever is so bad. The UFC’s most abysmal zero revenue generating fighter in modern history.”

Becoming a triple champion is a feat that only a handful can achieve. Alex Pereira definitely has the potential to be a triple champion if he went up to the heavyweight division and succeeded in defeating Jon Jones. This was probably the reason why McGregor kept on urging the ‘Poatan’ to go up to the HW category, following his impressive victory at UFC 307.

Talking to Dave Schmulenson, popularly known as ‘The Schmo’, the Irish mixed martial artist weighed in on Pereira’s chances of dominating the heavyweight arena. McGregor was absolutely impressed by the fact that the light heavyweight champion had 4 fights in the span of a few months and he won all 4 of them via knockouts. No doubt, the Dubliner was greatly impressed by the Brazilian champion.
But all McGregor wanted to watch next was a showdown between the ‘Poatan’, and ‘Bones’. He said, “Alex is a nice one and it’s still a dangerous one, though. At the core of it, it’s probably even more dangerous. I’d be very excited to see that bout take place, for sure.”
Knocking out some of the strongest opponents in the light heavyweight realm provided Pereira with a formidable aura. This made ‘The Notorious’ believe that the man with the hands of stone might pose a great danger to Jones. Putting Pereira ahead of the HW champ, McGregor said, “I’d put Alex as number one. I think he poses a lot of problems for Jon as well.”

McGregor further pointed out that Jones was still untested in the heavyweight realm, and Pereira had a strong stance for victory. And if he does win, he would become the first-ever 3-division champion in the UFC. And McGregor would soon follow suit.
