It was another night of some exciting BKFC action as the promotion went Hollywood, but it was its part-owner Conor McGregor who made the loudest noise. Amidst his recent announcement on gunning to become Ireland’s President, the fight community is slowly starting to feel that the end of his fighting career is certain. But wait! In an interesting statement from the former UFC double champion, the Irishman claimed that he’s going to be double-dipping.

McGregor recently took over the reins during the BKFC 70 post-fight press conference when he addressed the media and reasserted his presidential aspirations. But the curious media representatives couldn’t help but ask if he aimed to continue fighting if he happened to get elected which in all honestly is a bit unlikely. After all, they wanted to hear from ‘The Notorious’ himself, and guess what? McGregor boldly claimed that he would continue to fight even after donning the role of the Irish President. Interestingly, he further enacted how the ring announcer would announce him while walking out for a fight.

The former double champion claimed, “And now entering the Octagon, ‘The Notorious President of Ireland’, Conor McGregor.’ Woah, f—ing right I will [fight while being President]. Of course! You’re crazy?” As McGregor confirmed that he will continue to be an athlete, which is surprising given his long hiatus, the 36-year-old claimed that the fact that he could still compete while being a leader of his nation is what’s driving him to become the President.

“That’s the best part of why I want to do it. To be announced as the President of Ireland having a fight. Imagine that. For sure, hell yes,” McGregor added. Well, most fighters who have dived into politics never competed while holding an office, and it doesn’t seem like McGregor would be able to do that, given that there will be some conflict of interest. But who knows? Anything can happen when it comes to the Dubliner. After all, the “double champ does whatever the f–k he wants!”

Conor McGregor hints at UFC retirement

Conor McGregor recently claimed that, after Michael Chandler, he had another fight on the table, which was reportedly set to take place in the historic landmark at San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz. Well, recent reports claim that even WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez could be fighting on that island as well, so maybe the Irishman got the chance to do it as well. However, ‘The Notorious’ is currently focused on his mission to become the Irish President, and claimed to be satisfied with the body of work he’s done in the UFC. Moreover, he indicated that if he didn’t return for another outing, he wouldn’t be mad about it.

“Last week something happened to me. I went to the White House, and my heart bleeds for my country right now. So there’s a lot of stuff going on back home, I’m happy with what I’ve done,” Conor McGregor stated at the press conference. “There was an opportunity or a deal, we’ll say, to fight in Alcatraz only recent. There’s an event going on in Alcatraz in, I believe, June. They came to me and it wasn’t my worth.”
