Conor McGregor‘s stock has dropped quite a bit in recent years. Many felt that after becoming double champion and making money off of his whiskey business, ‘Mac’ had lost the hunger and passion for the sport a young McGregor had.

His two years of inactivity since suffering a horrific broken leg in his 2021 trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier has not helped, either. Nonetheless, he remains the most popular mixed martial artist ever, and his comeback promises to be a huge show. And Michael Bisping thinks it might be in a UFC mega-event.

In a conversation with the talkSPORT YouTube channel, former middleweight champion and UFC commentator Michael Bisping was asked about when Conor McGregor will return to the UFC. The Englishman said that he thinks we will see ‘Notorious’ in the octagon soon, as he has officially entered USADA’s testing pool earlier this month. Bisping felt, however, that it would take at least six months for him to return, referencing the anti-doping body’s six-month rule requiring fighters to enter its testing pool six months before they fight in the UFC.

“Yeah I mean absolutely [we will see him return soon]. That’s why he’s got back in, right? So I think he’s got to do six months of testing to prove that, you know there’s not going to be any surprises, shall we say, six months from now,” Bisping said.

Bisping added that he saw McGregor’s comeback to be at the upcoming UFC 300. He stated that the timing was aligning perfectly for McGregor to stage a comeback at the mega event. He was confident ‘Mac’s TUF 31 rival coach Michael Chandler would be his opponent on his return.

“I do believe that lands on UFC 300 so that’s not an official announcement from me. But all the timing lines up perfectly for a massive return. Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler more than likely. If you had to ask me where I’d put my money, UFC 300 Las Vegas. What a crazy event that will be!” he added.

However, it should be noted that after USADA splits from the UFC starting January next year, UFC fighters may not be bound by the six-month rule. Which means McGregor will not have to wait six months. At the same time, the UFC statement on the matter said the promotion would honor all the sanctions the agency has imposed at the moment, including McGregor’s six months. All of this, of course, remains in the realm of speculation and conjecture until the UFC and Dana White make an official announcement.
