Former UFC light-heavyweight champion, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson recently appeared at The MMA Hour show for a chat with Ariel Helwani. ‘Rampage’, a legend of MMA, shared his take on the sport’s biggest superstar ever, Conor McGregor.
Earlier, MMA was nowhere near the level of other mainstream sports in terms of popularity. But, in the recent past, the sport has earned a newfound fan base. And it’s tough to deny that McGregor deserves an enormous chunk of credit for that. From his impeccable mic skills to some of the memorable performances inside the Octagon, the Irish fighter has been always attracting eyeballs in whatever he does.

“Oh man, Conor McGregor put this sport on the map. You know, there’s no denying that we’re most definitely out there. People are aware of us, you know, Conor McGregor brought like casual fans and get them interested in the sport. But I don’t know if those people are tuning into other fighters or stuff like that, but a lot more people are talking about our sport right now though,” said Jackson.
Quinton Jackson doesn’t agree with everything Conor McGregor does
McGregor is a polarizing figure, like none else. His trash talk sometimes crosses the limits and might appear over the top. Also, ‘Rampage’ addressed the troubles ‘The Notorious’ gets into outside the Octagon.

“Yeah, I don’t agree with everything Conor says. But I think he’s great for the sport. But you know, at the end of the day, he’s an entertainer, so I don’t I don’t take anything he said like offensive or anything like that in my book Conor can do and say whatever he wants,” said Jackson.

As McGregor has been involved in several unwanted situations in recent years, ‘Rampage’ wants the Irishman to get a hold of his actions.

“But I’m a fan of Conor McGregor because what he’s done for the sport, I just want you to chill out from beating the old man and sh*t like that. You know that? That ain’t right,” Jackson concluded.
