Conor McGregor was supposed to return to the Octagon this year and fight his TUF rival Michael Chandler. But ‘The Notorious’ missed the USADA deadline and pushed the whole plan of a 2023 comeback into uncertainty. The two had a moment at TUF where it looked like they would fight. However, UFC President Dana White intervened and cooled the two down.
Now, it seems that McGregor has different plans. With Justin Gaethje becoming the BMF champion, it seems that McGregor wants to fight ‘The Highlight.’ In his latest message for Gaethje, McGregor tweeted, “I KO him one shot. Guarantee it.“

In the hours after the event, the Irishman tweeted saying that he would slap Justin Gaethje around. Following that up, he tweeted saying “I’m the real bmf, he can fight for pennies if he wants but I want spirits, I call the shots, I’m in it to launch shots, f—k chandler, you want it call for it.”
McGregor has fired cannons in both directions. He has shut down Michael Chandler and also called out the BMF champ. However, Gaethje has promptly responded, saying that he doesn’t want to fight someone on ‘steroids’, taking a dig at McGregor’s recent controversies. Regardless of all this chatter, McGregor’s return in 2023 still remains a big question mark.
