Everybody wants to fight Conor McGregor, and the reason is obvious—selling out arenas and making big bank. For fighters, the Irishman being on the card is like fighting in Abu Dhabi or Saudi Arabia or Madison Square Garden in New York. Win, lose, or draw, the promise of a hefty paycheck waits on the other side. Alas, ‘The Notorious’ is nowhere to be seen, at least where it matters. We’re, of course, talking about seeing him compete inside the Octagon. His last scheduled opponent Michael Chandler, who he pulled out against, is facing Liverpool’s Paddy Pimblett—having moved on after waiting for him for almost 2 years.
And here’s the kicker. Like Michael Chandler once did, ‘The Baddy’ is also dreaming of a big pay-day fight with ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor. He dreams of a mega-fight with the Irish superstar in Anfield stadium, home to his native Liverpool FC soccer team. If he ever gets that chance, that’s the only venue he wants—fighting him in the soccer club’s iconic 61,276-capacity stadium. “You’d have to do a stadium for me vs Conor. Have to do Anfield in Liverpool. We’ll absolutely fill it out,” asserted a confident Paddy during an interview with TMZ.
What he claims will be the most satisfying thing about fighting in Anfield is the crowd that will come to witness the fight. “[There] will be about 70,000 [spectators] there, be the best atmosphere that the UFC has ever seen,” Paddy Pimblett added.

Well, Paddy Pimblett is not wrong about the crowd there because, in all of sports, the Liverpool crowd is known to be one of the most electric. Many soccer club managers in the English top flight claim that Anfield is a pretty tough place to perform due to the home crowd’s relentless energy. “Anfield [was] electric… It’s a marvellous atmosphere. You have to expect that atmosphere even when you’re losing. You never felt safe there. It was a really volatile atmosphere,” said legendary Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson in an interview with Sport Bible.
Surely the Scousers having one of their own fight inside the iconic stadium won’t be a fight to miss. Besides, White claimed to have seen shades of McGregor in Paddy Pimblett, so why not book that fight? “He reminds me of Conor when Conor first started,” the UFC CEO recently told Jim Rome.

But Pimblett or not, the biggest concern right now is Conor McGregor and his UFC return. While a lot of names have been thrown for his return, a former UFC fighter weighed in on the idea, and seems to believe that fighting Paddy Pimblett is the better choice for ‘Mystic Mac’.
Ex-UFC fighter claims Paddy Pimblett fight makes sense for Conor McGregor
It’s no secret that Conor McGregor, at 36 years old and more than three years away from action, isn’t a spring chicken anymore. The former dual belt holder’s return is as uncertain as his comeback opponent. With so much time out of action, former heavyweight Brendan Schaub suggested ‘The Notorious’ take on Paddy Pimblett because of the buzz it would create—especially since he could have a significant advantage over the Liverpudlian.

“Let’s say he’s back mid-summer, like Q2, early Q3, let’s say Paddy Pimblett gets one more big win. Bobby Green was ranked in the top 15, let’s say he gets one more marquee win… Paddy Pimblett vs. Conor? You wouldn’t watch that? It puts Paddy on, and it’s [a good fight],” Brendan Schaub stated on YouTube. “Conor has a significant advantage in striking, on the ground [it’s Paddy]. That’d be a fun fight. Paddy’s a huge name man, huge name, especially internationally he’s a massive star. It makes sense.”
What’s better than a fight between two of the best from the British Isles? Imagine the thrash talk on that one. That press conference would be an absolute banger. What do you think? Does that fight make sense, especially for Conor McGregor’s return? Will Paddy Pimblett have the right tools to beat ‘The Notorious’? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
