The POTUS, Donald Trump, previously declared that his favorite fighter was Khabib Nurmagomedov. Needless to say, this must’ve irked the Dagestani’s long-time rival, Conor McGregor. But now, he’s getting the words of praise from the man he admires. As the date for St. Patrick’s Day inches closer, the American President had to address the Irish heritage. And that’s when he dropped his endorsements for ‘Mystic Mac’.
During a conversation with Michael Martin, the Teachta Dala of Ireland, and the media, a reporter asked Trump about his favorite Irish person. And it was McGregor’s body inks paired with his fighting skills that reeled the President of the United States towards him. Trump said, “Oh, there’s so many—are you kidding me? Well, I do happen to like your fighter; he’s got the best tattoos I’ve ever seen. Conor’s great, right? I’m talking about Conor. But you have a lot of great Irish fighters, actually. Great fighters.”
Well, Trump knew that the Irish had a genetic complexion that made them such great fighters. Take Joseph Duffy and Ian Garry for example. The Irish have seldom failed to impress the fighting community with their in-cage skills. The POTUS continued, “I don’t know what that is, but Ireland’s always had a lot of really good fighters. You know why? Because they’re tough people. They’re smart people, and they’re passionate people.” He then went on to address how great a fighter was Paddy Martin, Michael Martin’s father.

It was Bo Loudon who shared Trump’s message on Instagram, and McGregor happened to cast his attention on it. ‘The Notorious’ certainly loved the endorsement. Not only did he share the video on his Instagram Story, but also took to the comments section to express his gratitude. The former UFC double champion dropped a red heart emoji, followed by a raising hands emoji. Well, getting to know that Trump loved his skills and his tattoos was certainly a big thing for McGregor.

Of course, this wasn’t the only time when Trump endorsed Conor McGregor. And the vice-versa was also true. ‘The Notorious’ has often shown his support for the POTUS. Well, except for the one time when he was upset about Trump talking about Khabib Nurmagomedov being his favorite mixed martial artist. But do you know what the Irish star said when he got to know about Trump barely escaping an assassination attempt?

Conor McGregor showers praise for Donald Trump
The entire world was taken aback when a bullet grazed past Trump’s ear during one of his Presidential rallies. And McGregor was also one of the entities to drop their reaction about the incident. ‘Mystic Mac’ took to X and wrote, “A 78 year old multiple billionaire he should be on a yacht on the med touring golf courses. But he is not. He is in Pennsylvania spitting out bullets! Running for the love of his country! God speed Donald! God bless the United States.”

And when Trump finally emerged victorious with a majority of the votes supporting his rise to the Presidential throne for a second time, McGregor flew in to stand in support of Trump at Washington, DC. The former UFC champion deemed Trump as a double champion. In a tweet, McGregor wrote, “Just landed in Washington DC to witness @realDonaldTrump become Double Champ! #Exceptional #ChampChamp.” McGregor has been supporting a lot of other stuff, too. Take Trump’s decision to ban TikTok, for example. ‘The Notorious’ stood up to support the decision. And now, getting praised by the POTUS seemingly had McGregor in the 7th heaven.

However, the one thing that the whole wide world, possibly including Trump, has been waiting eagerly for is the return of McGregor. McGregor was set to make an epic comeback at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler. Unfortunately, a broken pinky toe destroyed all the hype as McGregor was forced to pull out of the bout. Now, Dana White has confirmed that the Irish fighter would likely return in 2025. And all we can do is wait and watch the story unfold.
